Has anyone else heard about allegations that some of the Gold Cup games may have been manipulated? There is an article on a German website (Der Spiegel, pretty major and reliable magazine and site) that says 3 games are being investigated by FIFA and Interpol. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anything in English, but that may be because the story is quite new. Basically it says that some of the blow-outs triggered unusually high activity in the Asian betting market, especially on bets relating to teams scoring a lot. Three Federations are apparently being investigated. I hope that this is just a coincidence. Failed drug tests PLUS match manipulation would reflect really badly on the tournament.
I read that this morning on Der Spiegel's website as well. If true, at least we know that the US games probably aren't in question.
It's been picked up by other European sites now, though they just seem to be regurgitating the same exact information.
