Away goals don't count, it's just aggregate. If we can manage a 2 goal win in regulation, we get overtime to finish it off. Here's the games that we've won by two this season (not including the Open Cup games): Code: Montreal Impact House Park 2-0 @ Miami FC Blues Lockhart Stadium 3-1 @ Crystal Palace Baltimore UMBC Stadium 2-0 Miami FC Blues House Park 3-1 AC St. Louis House Park 2-0 Miami FC Blues House Park 3-1 Tampa Bay Rowdies House Park 4-2 NSC Minnesota Stars House Park 2-0 AC St. Louis House Park 4-2 So we're certainly capable of it. That was a nice exercise for me to do. I was thinking that we're in real trouble. And I'm still concerned, but I also see that it's not quite as dire as I thought. Granted, the teams on that list above are all (except for a 'very first game of the season' Montreal and Minnesota) bottom-of-the-league teams. But nearly 2/3 of our wins were by two-goal margins. We can do this.
Just replace Balboa with Braz and fight with game and there you have it for Saturday night. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJnKm6ftPu0&feature=related"]YouTube - Rocky 3 - Mr. T - I pity the fool[/ame][ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJnKm6ftPu0&feature=related"][/ame]
And LOL at the guy with his season stats. It's po man, we have so much more experience you gonna kiss our feet at the end.
You know, generally I reserve my feet-kissing for those with a better command of the English language. Or, heck, even French. But have fun up there in Montreal with Saputo and the rest of the string cheese mafia as you watch the Aztex dismantle the Impact and move on to the next round of the playoffs. No doubt in the aftermath you'll try to comfort yourself with thoughts like "well, we'll be in MLS in 2011, and you'll still be in USSFD2/NASL/The Palmolive Slightly-Less-Than-Premier-League." We, on the other hand, will still have our 40 million dollar entry fee, the ability to sign whatever players we want, and, of course, the sense of smug satisfaction that comes with not being French Canadian.
Well since we are going to MLS in 2012 and not 2011 and you seem to think that using implied ethnic insults is a good come back, I'll conclude that your opinion is not representative of the whole aztex fan base.. Enjoy the game! P.S. I'm sure that "your" 40 million entry fee is just sitting there in the bank waiting to be used to sign all the players you want, seeing as there are so many waiting in the wings for the privilege of playing on your world class pitch..
It's academic now, but why no Randi? Did I miss something? And on the bright side, the shirt auction was a good way for me to get essentially a 15 dollar discount on a jersey.
Classy. Thanks for dropping in. Buh-bye. I'd tell you to go back to your own forum, but I see that nobody's posted anything there since last May. So I guess it's not surprising that the two of you have nothing better to do than troll other teams'.
The only thing I can guess is that the USSF decided that his red card in the final game of the season warranted a two game suspension.
Nice try, was a good game. I actually hope you guys are one of the teams that make it. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DxUTit5lWs"]YouTube - UM02 Ultras Montréal 6 octobre 2010 / Montreal Ultras october 6 2010[/ame]
A few final thoughts on the game. I thought that game was one of the most entertaining I'd seen all season, result excluded. I think the backline was unsettled - I saw at least 5 different players moving back into positions there. I don't think there's enough speed on the backline at present. Sakuda in particular kept getting torched by Gerba. I think we definitely could have used Callahan's energy in the midfield, but I thought we dominated the game for the most part - they scored on a corner and counters. Towards the end when we started to rely on the longball I knew it was over for us. We ran out of energy after flying around the pitch and not managing to put it in the net. On any other night I think that game would have fallen for the Aztex, but Jordan had a lights out match. I think Miguel and Jordan were the MOTM to be honest - that was a great keepers duel.
You'll see that's the problem with Sakuda. Let you down this game, you got knocked out. He let us down in the Champions League, we got knocked out.
Yeah, we picked him up last year because our back line was REALLY unstable. It got better this year, and I'm not necessarily sure he's the player we need to take it to the next level...
Wish you guy's best of luck in your new league, too bad we won't see the Aztex next year in MTL. You played against us for only two years and we already had history between our clubs.
Just gotta tip my cap to Montreal. They were better. Gerba is a beast. Dude's neck is like a fire hydrant. Most importantly, how did everyone think the stand-in PA announcer did on Saturday night? Just curious.
