Good start for Chiquidracula, no? It seems his early refusal to fall for any histrionics, including Suarez' Klinsmann-like log roll, has settled things down a bit.
23': I mean, it's nice to see a PI booking, but you don't *really* need to point around the pitch to show a yellow to that foul...
A foul occurs at 45:20, looks to be a simple clip. Rodriquez hits his whistle 7 times and gets the foul. Looks like the foul surprises him, hence the 7 tweets. He runs to the fouling player to talk with him and they start running down the field together talking. The player turns around after they finish talking and Rodriguez pulls out his card and presents it as the player half turns around again. No signal for PI given which is the only thing I think it could be given that it wasn't really a reckless foul.
Damn. Straight red for SFP. Looks like a good call, but I would have liked to see Buffon and co. get a bunch of dissent cards. Buffon evens bumps him at one point.
That was much softer than the Croatia one yesterday that many were saying was soft for this tournament.
No, I think the SFP cards have been pretty consistent with what is called is every other league. What has been different is the reckless/tactical yellow cards.
he is the captain , isn't it his right to argue with the referee when something happens to his team ?
+1 on that. My philosophy is if someone's going to travel that far to argue, don't let them leave empty handed. Gotta think there was some instruction from FIFA, as Rodriguez' normal approach would be (I imagine) to caution at least one of those miscreants.
