Well, above, silly me forgetting that Maryland would've hosted Washington. Moot point anyway with Lipscomb advancing. And speaking of advancing, what a nice, comprehensive 2-0 win over NC State today. Go Pacific.
Yeah, it was nice to see Maryland finally get off the schneid and break the two years of not getting past their first tournament game. My sense is that the road game Saturday vs. Duke is going to be a tough assignment, maybe a bridge too far. They are 11-6-2 including wins over Virginia, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Pacific. The team they struggled with was North Carolina, losing to them in the regular season and the ACC semis. Also lost a 1-0 game to Georgetown. We shall see how this goes............
Shocker in Durham. They keep moving forward... https://www.testudotimes.com/maryla...t-duke-round-16-final-score-stats-match-recap
Really nice turnaround to this season by the Terps. Arguably Sasho's best coaching job in years given where they were after 4-5 games.
If it was so predictable then how come I didn't see any of you guys predicting it? After the way they played the first month of the season and after getting bounced out of the tournament in their first game two years in a row, I didn't see anybody speaking up for their chances in this tournament. So glad you guys knew it all along. Maybe you can tell me who the eventual national champion will be, the exact score of the game, the winning goal scorer, etc.
When an elite program makes it to the elite eight, it is not shocking. To beat a Duke team that was ok, not great, with very little NCAA success and post season history that is not a shocker... The shock the last two years was not making it to this level.
If you look at the bracket-challenge thread you will see that quite a few people (including me) picked the Terps to make the Elite 8 ...
I couldn't care less about the bracket challenge. Go back to Page 2 of this thread and read our comments there. It sounded like we were holding a wake. I didn't see anybody predicting Maryland would make a run in the tournament at that point.
Well done indeed. They're overdue and glad to see it happen for them. https://www.testudotimes.com/maryla...-elite-eight-kentucky-final-score-stats-recap
Maryland 2-0 Indiana 1st half goal by Matt Di Rosa, assist by Eli Crognale 2nd half goal by Donovan Pines, assist by Eli Crognale On to the Final on Sunday v Akron ...
Really amazing to watch Maryland come back this season. But wish the NCAA would open stream the finals. Unless one can figure out the ESPN ESPNU puzzle and at a internet connection where you actually can log on to a provider, impossible to watch the game. Just not great for the sport...unless I'm missing something. Sad we missed it….watched play by play texts..exciting hey? . Congrats to the Terps and really to the Big Ten this year....
One of the top goalkeepers in college soccer, has been for several years. Should be the first goalkeeper pro if drafted. Hopefully he goes CanPL. Pines is a man. Should be a GA. May be a little weak on a ball in possession, and lacks technical ability, but he can defend, tackle, and win a ball!
Pines is a DCU academy kid. He should be a HG this year, if he doesn't go overseas after a DCU low-ball offer.
Should have figured he was a DA player. That’s too bad he’s ties to DCU. He and Gutman should both get out of their Homegrowns and go somewhere positive.
