I wanted to get a thread going about Marvin Chavez.

He is currently playing abroad for FC Dallas of the USA's MLS (Major League Soccer).

He is currently playing the role of a Forward of Attacking Mid, and doing it very well.

FC Dallas competed last year in the MLS Championship Cup, and is currently rotating its line-up in order to also play in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Chavez elected to stay with FC Dallas during the Gold CUP as the team needed him due to injuries.

I'm not sure he was called up to the Gold Cup. If you can provide a link where he says he rejected the call-up. He might have and I just missed it.

He was called-up, but like chaz said, Marvin chose to stay with FC Dallas because they were going through a tough time and felt that FC Dallas needed him more than we did.

yea... when he gets called-up, he'll probably be a starting winger. most likely on the right.

Very fast and explosive. Basically a smaller version of El Mosky.

Currently, Chavez is with the team in San Salvador, El Salvador to play in the CONCACAF Champions League qualifying game for FC Dallas vs Alianza.

Last week, Chavez scored 2 goals against New York Red Bulls that won him a spot in the League's Starting IX players of the week.

imo... It's gonna be hard for Dallas to win. Alianza is a pretty good team. Unfortunate they lost El Fito Zelaya.

FCD WIN away leg of CCL play in game versus Alianza FC

    FCD 1 - 0 AFC

Chavez's speed and attack led to constant hacking by AFC. The game got very chippy and Chavez earned 1 of the 2 yellow cards shown to FCD, 2 other yellow cards were given to AFC.

    Brazilian Jackson scored the goal

The team had flight problems and were delayed in El Salvador from returning to Dallas until Saturday night - a mere 24 hours before the FC Dallas game vs. Chivas USA.

In a 6pm start with temperatures hovering at 102 degrees, Marvin Chavez again found a way to help the team win by scoring the game winning goal.

FCD win 12th shutout this season

"Marvin Chavez scored his forth goal of the season, his third in the last two games. Kevin Hartman picked up his league leading 12th shutout in the win, just four shy if the league's all-time mark set by Tony Meola. It was also his 105th shutout of his career. "

Sure - they got to rest today. :D
I imagine coach will be focused on recovery and rest tomorrow as well, and then Wednesday is the game. 7 pm CT - Predicted temps for Wed are a high of 108 - 110. Hopefully down to about 100 by game time.

Because many people believe that once a NT player goes to MLS he will no longer be called up to the seleccion.

Chavez scores the winning goal in CONCACAF Champions League game PUMAS vs FC Dallas - This is a historic win as no MLS team has won a game in Mexico before for CCL.
