Re: Mark Gonzalez (R) (News, etc...)

Mark played really well yesterday in the 4-0 win over Sheffield U.
Some great early moments in which his lightening pace got him behind the Sheffield defence.

I think he will take confidance from this game and continue to raise his level he will be ok.
The only problem for Gonzalez is the competition for places, with
J-A Riise, H Kewell (on his way back to fitness) Bolo Zenden all battling for the left win spot.

But as far as yesterday is concerned Gonzalez gets
    a 7/10!!:)

    Hey!

It's great to get a fellow 'Pool fan around here, and get your guys perspective on him. I (personally) think Kewell and Zenden are pretty much done.

Please, feel welcome to come back here more often, mate!:)

It's good to hear that he's doing ok, considering he benched for a few games after he came back from the friendly against Venezuela. Didn't see the game against Sheffiled but heard he had a great game.

    Hi MetroChile!

I agree with your comments on Zenden & Kewell.

Harry has not done himself justice at all at Liverpool,
Most fans think he plays like 75%, he never seems to run himself into
    the ground,
As for Zenden if he plays he is usually as back up in Centre Midfield.
But with the purchase of Maschereno I think if he does play it will now be Left Midfield.
Gonzalez will play a lot this season but I dont think he will yet be picked
for the big games. Maybe next year when he adjusts 100% to the fast pace of English football Benitez will 'trust' him more in these big matches.
We have seen how good he is as he was exceptional for Sociedad last year. We have had several great moments from him this year also!

i like mark gonzalez, hopefully chile has a lof of those players that play in that position, like vidangoissi, even thoguht he is a striker, but could play as a midleft, closer to the goal, and then jimenez, pinilla, just to cite some, chile has a bunch of sides midfields, i hope thay keep playing that 3-5-2 so peru with the best thing we have our forwards can score and win chile, cuz we havent win chile since 2004 with that paolo guerrero goal

Liverpool has a lot going for them, not only are they one of the most glorious teams in the history of club futbol, but they keep contracting good players, who play well in their respective positions. Mascherano being bought will also be a big help for the club. Gonzalez, will be highly instrumental for Chile during la copa america, glad to have him back.

The problem with Masche is that 1. he has to gain his match fitness all back and 2. he has to fight Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko (and even Stevie G) for a starting spot as a d-mid. I would say Mascherano is technically a better player than Momo, but Momo has been incredible as of late (by far the best player against Barca last week).

Metro, no doubt that Mascherano has a lot to compete against, but he also played alongside Gonzalez against Sheffield, and it looked like he had his form back, he was pretty solid with tackling, and his passing and hooking up with the rest of his teammates was also looking pretty good.

Mascherano is a great player but Sissoko is just playing beautifully. I hope they can play out some sort of strategy where they can keep a similar playing style and have Mascherano linking passes in the midfield with Sissoko and Gerrard.

I think we can all agree that trying to gain your fitness back against Sheffield United at home is a lot different than trying to do it against Barca, at their place.

Re: Mark Gonzalez (R) (News, etc...)

This bring me towards another topic that concerns Mascherano, I can't help but think, that this move from West Ham to Liverpool, was essentialy manuvered by "MSI" from the very beginning.

I'm going back to the rule that states, no player can play for more than 2 clubs in a current season. Masherano by filing legal papers saying he was not being given the "chance to play", by-passing that rule by declaring that West Ham was violating those same rights that he was being given a "chance to play". So, in effect the players found a loophole past the rule, you can go through three teams, just as long as you don't get put on the bench.

Liverpool is not West Ham, and Benitez will surely be using him, and to conclude I don't ever think Masherano lost his form in the first place, this all sounds like a manufactured move from the get go.

The Mascherano move from Corinthians to WHU was a joke/farce from the beginning. There shouldn't a shadow of a doubt in anyone's mind. Joorabchian (formerly the owner of Corinthians) wanted to buy WHU, but in the end the two Icelandic magnates stepped in, so his plan was crushed.

But in a nutshell, Tevez/Mascherano to WHU = joke.
