Promes was ON FIRE. Absolutely caused fits for Sevilla all night while we couldn't generate any type of confidence going forward. Spartak were the benefit of a few lucky bounces/touches, but the win was wholly deserved on the night.
I agree with some of that but that's half of the story. One of our biggest problems this season has been and remains, until last night, the absence of quick, incisive passing to allow us to get behind teams before they regain their defence shape. This is exactly the type of team who we'd have dominated but laboured to break down through conservative backwards and sideways passing. And Henderson, Wijnaldum and Can have been the biggest cause of that failing. The " it's only Maribor" argument mainly applies to our back five, not necessarily the others.
Not giving away a silly accident goal in game 1 and putting away one of the two or three good chances we had when we did get in behind United's deep line last weekend and we'd be within 5 of city (Mane not getting sent off and maybe we'd be within two of them...... Point is that luck evens out. keep bombarding teams and maybe we'll win the next 8 games....
It was a pretty low quality camera game -if that helps any .... one of those where you'd need a 50 inch tv just toi figure out who's on the ball....
Really? Why? Their defence and midfield were as poor as their attack imo. we get a much harder workout when playing 2nd or 3rd-tier teams in domestic cup competitions.
Someone at New Balance needs to be fired for the gawdawful away kits. One of their designers seems to have worked designing safety gear and can't stop using the day glow colors. Hideous.
That's bad. I got lucky with the fox channel on delay. 5 pm our time. Got home in time for a dinner match. Near choked a couple of times though.
