Somehow I can't see him enjoying life in Los Angeles. Perhaps New York City, but not LA. Ibra has always seemed more Cantona than Beckham, a man who has contempt for absurdity rather than a man who welcomes it.
Jose confirms that Zlatan will leave at the end of the season. www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11272904/zlatan-ibrahimovic-set-to-leave-man-utd-at-the-end-of-the-season-says-jose-mourinho
Just wish he could have a good end to his ManU career . Don't see him slumming it in the states or China ...
He should retire, it will help the MLS getting away from being a retirement league, it will help him not disgrace himself, it will help us by putting him as a coach.
Na ... He craves the limelight but wouldn't put up with the criticism , he will probably have ambitions similar to his mate at Barca ( Pique ) who says he will be Barca president one day ..
With all due respect guys, the Premier League that you know and love today, was as recently as the mid-to-late-nineties, described by most of mainland Europe as Serie A and La Liga's "retirement league". That's because initially, we were only attracting the older names or also-rans (Andrea Silenzi, I'm looking at you). MLS is now attracting increasingly younger talents (Sebastian Giovinco, the Dos Santos brothers, Carlos Vela, Nemanja Nikolic, Romain Alessandrini) and up-and-comers from Central- and South-America. I'm not saying MLS is en route to becoming the EPL, but don't be a bunch of snobs. If Zlatan comes here, even if he flames out spectacularly, at the very worst it becomes a barely-acknowledged footnote to his career. Nobody could have had a worse late-career performance in MLS than Steven Gerrard. Is that what he's famous for? No, that's having never won a league title in his entire career. When we look back at the careers of Bastian Schweinsteiger and David Villa, will their time in MLS be the focus, or the World Cups and success in the Bundesliga and La Liga? Clearly it'll be the latter.
Zlatan hinting he could return to the Swedish national team for the WC. www.skysports.com/football/news/13957/11272383/zlatan-ibrahimovic-hints-at-comeback-for-sweden-at-world-cup The funny thing is that Sweden really don't have quality options upfront, that if he did prove fit, it wouldn't a big surprise to see him in Russia. Curious as to how close he is to making a return though. He is back in training allegedly and hope he can still play a part in the run in and end his United on a high of some kind.
As soon as it was announced he was coming back early I knew this season was a wash for him. Same for Rojo. As I stated when the injury happened, you don't just return from ACL surgery that quickly and go back to playing a sport at a professional level that requires rapid cutting and turning.
Zlatan still teasing a move to the Galaxy. www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/03/02/zlatan-ibrahimovic-admits-move-la-galaxy-tempting-refuses-rule/
He gave us a lift when we were at rock bottom, but in general not a fan of getting older players or ones with injury issues. There was a piece in MEN suggesting we go for Robben who is a free agent in the summer - after Falcao, Schweini, Ibra, Rooney, (last year of) Carrick ... no thanks. Although younger, given the history and miles on the clock same goes for Bale. Especially in the EPL, for the most part old-timers become part-timers very quickly.
Hopefully he'll be back playing and helping United finish the season strongly then rejoin Sweden in the World Cup finals - typical Ibra !!
I know it is changing but it is not there, it still is geared towards retirement players. That's reality. Sure the EPL before my time was not the greatest league, but you still played in European Cups, you still played in a system of relegation promotion, losing was not okay. I do not want to derail the discussion, but the competitive nature of European football regardless of era still trumps MLS for now. So basically, for me Ibra going to Malmo than MLS is more gratifying for him as a player, not from sentimental piece but competing in Europe as well.
Zlatan done at United and MLS bound? www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3427880/zlatan-ibrahimovic-has-played-last-manchester-united-game-leaving-for-mls-sources
Sounds logical. Zlatan was holding out at United in hope he may finally be part of a team that won the Champions League. Makes sense to move on now that dream will never be realised— Dean Jones (@DeanJonesSoccer) March 22, 2018
The LA Times are claiming that Zlatan has signed with the Galaxy. Either way, it seems that his arrival there is a matter of when.
