I could expand on that point, but I didn't think it was necessary. It will be brutally hot, except perhaps in San Diego if the City game is in fact being played there. 2pm in the summer is a miserable time of day to play soccer/football for most of the US except within a mile or two from the coastline along the west coast. The quality of play will suffer. I've been to several United matches in the USA over the years and the only ones that stood out were the game against the LA Galaxy at the Rose Bowl, at night, and the game in Seattle. A shame these games couldn't be scheduled at night. I can't imagine we'll have a captive audience of Europeans watching these games anyway. Although the spectacle will still be great to check out regardless of the time of day.
Might as well wang this in the 'invisible' thread for now - http://turkish-football.com/revealed-man-united-face-turkish-league-giants-besiktas-china-summer/
Waiting for sale info on the Galaxy game. Any info will be appreciated. Waiting with baited breath to watch the boys park the bus vs the Galaxy. #mourinhostyle
A fantastic heads up, Brainfart! I have a cousin in Houston who I haven't seen in 5 years. Check United out on July 20 at NRG perhaps and then -- tickets already in hand! -- at Levi's on July 23.
I went 7 years ago for the All-Star game. Obviously I wasn't playing, but the temperature was pleasant inside the stadium (with the retractable roof).
Yeah, didn't remember that in my initial comment. I travel to Houston for work occasionally and I hate it, even in the winter. But to be fair, walking to the stadium will still suck, but at least inside will be pretty good.
As far as the Houston game, I imagine Kings Court will have a nice setup pregame. They are literally across the street from the stadium which will be convenient. Also, Tom Clare, who used to post great historical pieces here, is the leader of their fan club. I was able to watch a couple games there while in Houston for work in January, and it's a good bar. Tom and his wife were awesome too - pretty spectacular talking to him for a bit. He is incredibly connected and goes back to Manchester a few times a year.
No chance I'm making to Houston on July 20 after all. I've already got tickets to the July 23 game in Santa Clara and two days after that I'm on my way to London for a few days.
Got mine. There's an STH presale currently. There's a limit though and no discounts beyond the number of STs you hold.
This summer will be the first I will watch United live, every time they come over here I am away across the continent. Can't wait to see them and hopefully beat Barca. The tickets were expensive though.
