July 15 - Stubhub Field - LA Galaxy July 17 - Rio Tinto Stadium - Real Salt Lake July 20 - Venue TBA - Manchester City July 23 - Levi's Stadium - Real Madrid July 26 - FedEx Field - Barcelona Figured it would be nice to have a discussion thread now that tour info is out.
The 30th the tickets come out I think as someone posted. The only bummer it is on a Wednesday the DC game.
Stubhub is small. Might be a challenge to get face value tickets. Hey, @barroldinho , you got any kind of hook up with Galaxy officials? Lol
Holds 27k usually but they can expand capacity with temporary seating and by opening the grass berm, to a little over 30k. A few years ago, this would have been a "bonus game" in my season tickets. However, they've got stingy. I just get a discount if I buy a ticket. It makes sense though because I know that some STHs were selling those bonus games on at prices that pretty much covered their season tickets for the year.
I actually heard San Diego for the City game. We'll find out soon enough. That being said I hope the prices are at least reasonable, el Classico in Miami has some ridiculous prices. $600 for standing room only tix on the upper level plus whatever fees ticket master is charging ya
That's probably the best thing about MLS the value for the money. Hope it stays that way as the league grows.
I read somewhere that the City game is in San Diego, but I guess that's not a sure thing. The Real game is definitely on at Levi's in Santa Clara.
There's contrasting rumors right now. I've heard both San Diego and Austin, Texas for the City match.
******** the Galaxy. I'll either be in Santa Clara or the game against Citeh if they decide to have it in San Diego.
Hopefully the ticket prices are affordable for you guys. El Clasico is in Florida within traveling distance but we are looking at $600 per ticket............
It just hit me that the best players may actually be on this tour. It feels like there's been a summer tournament each year for the past 4 or something, especially with the added Copa Centenary money grab. Some players are actually gonna get 5-6 weeks of rest.
There's only the Confederation Cup in play and that will take place early in the summer. So there should be a minimal number of top players that could be affected, depending how far they end up going that is. Portuguese (with Ron among others) and German players are the ones to think of I imagine.
If MC is in SD, i will have to try to make that. Vs Galaxy is a priority. I have missed United in this area last time.
One issue to keep in mind is that United will typically be playing these games in the middle of the afternoon in July on hot and sticky days except for its Bay Area game, but even then Santa Clara can be broiling from 2-4pm on a typical July day.
Same thing with RSL. They've slowly stripped away some of the bonuses we got for being STH's. The one good thing is that we get first crack at tickets. They still haven't released much info on pricing, other than they start at $50, and go on sale Tues at 10am. I'm just happy it's the 17th, since that's the day I get back from vacation.
I used to go to these friendlies but now I think they are a waste of time - expensive tickets, players half-assing it and about 20 substitutions. Better to save up the money and catch a flight to Manchester for a real game.
That's what I hope to do one day, but for now I can live with spending ~$100 to watch some players half ass it live.
