A stat flashed up about 5+ minutes ago about touches in the box: Man City - 37 Spurs - 4 From those two, either Spurs are being totally over run, or Man City is being massively inefficient. As an optimist, I'll take the latter.
I hate VAR so much. I hate, hate, hate it - no matter how much it helps Spurs. It's ruining this game.
I'm just going to say that I don't like the new hand ball rule even though we've benefited from it. *ducks*
That was one of the rule changes, if hand ball leads to a goal, deliberate or otherwise, the goal will be ruled out. I call that The Arsenal Rule.
You can't celebrate a friggin' goal. No matter how clean you think it is … no matter that no one - no players, theirs, ours, the ref - sees a problem … you have to wait to find out whether you can be happy (or sad, as the case may be). I hate it. I friggin' hate it.
wow!!! this was the worst spurs game I watched for a very long time, but somehow.... we won!!! COYS!!!
How often can any team playing away, give up so much possession and so many chances, their top tier keeper having a Championship level performance, get a result against any PL team, much less arguably the finest team in the league. This was a mind-boggling outcome. I wasn't able to watch it live. I had a previous engagement scheduled. But, the highlights made it clear how fortunate Spurs were. That new handball rule is going to piss off a LOT of players and managers this year.
The new rules makes sense. If you are going to have VAR, then you have to remove the subjectivity of whether or not the handling was deliberate. I don't like it, but it makes sense.
The stats and highlights coupled with the VAR decision might make it seem like a case of “the great escape”, but watching it live 2-2 wasn’t an unearned scoreline.
