    This is a pointless and needless thread... however, I respectfully disagree. Uli > Shin TY.

    edit - I absolutely can't stand Shin TY but I believe Korea can pick up 4 pts at the WC.

    Korea - Sweden = 3pts
    Mexico = 1pt
    Germany = 0 pts

    Sweden don't seem that strong and their complete underestimation of us hopefully will bite them in the arse. We've fared well against Mexico in the past 2 tournaments. Germany is Germany

    One more level -- how are we beating Sweden and drawing Mexico based on our current form and tactics.

    Luck & Son HM. Against Mexico & Sweden, Korea has the best player in Son HM. Anyways, Mexico is extremely wasteful in front of goal...

    Doesn’t matter if our defenders will serve them 20 chances on a plate

    Pretty good article by Tim:
    http://www.taegukwarriors.com/why-koreas-3-5-2-doesnt-work/
    STY has been trying 3-5-2 because he knows Sweden plays 4-4-2. 3-5-2 formation was seen as the formation against 4-4-2 because the 3 defenders can go against their 2 attackers. STY picking this formation isn't too shocking because STY has focused on preparing for the first game of every tournaments the most. However, Tim mentions that Sweden was able to beat and contain Italy's 3-5-2 in the first leg (I think Italy picked a 4-2-4 in the second, I can't remember). But still, if They were able to beat Italian 3-5-2, I don't know how we will manage to do it...

    Don't count the match vs Italy in Sweden cause Italy lost due to lack of creativity and an unfortunate goal conceded.

    South Korea doesn't luck creativity in our attacking midfielders, we have lots of problems but at fortunately not this.

    Also...Italy's formation was a straight 3-5-2 without any attacking midfielder playing as CAM/CM like LJS did, if my memory serves me.

    352 can work against a 442 if we have good transition defense and the ability to shift sides quickly (which we dont). watch how italy's 352 moves from side to side.

    we have 1 wingback against a winger & fullback. we need to pin their fullbacks back so they cant move forward or theyll just overload the wings or switch the play to the open side quickly like bosnia did.

    I need some hope & anything can happen at the tournament (such as Costa Rica in 2014 when they were awful in WCQs). Also, I agree.. Mexico ran circles around Korea the entire match but they were also extremely wasteful in front of goal. :)

    Have STY's contract terminated after the Mexico match, and Toni Grande take over as interim.

    Lol can you imagine?. His carrier will be over like this. Being sacked in the middle of the WC, the most embarrassing thing in football's history.

    That's why we never heard from him as a manager outside of Korea circles.

    I understand that many of us are upset with STY, our injury problems, and the incompetency of our defenders. Yet, this doesn't mean we should shoot each other down at merely mentioning that there's a chance of us progressing past the group stages.

    Odd things have happened at the World Cup and its not too farfetched to say that we can beat Sweden and snag a draw against Mexico. We have the most prolific striker Korea has ever seen and a few decent players at our disposal.

    I agree. There's nothing that can be done now anyway, just hope and support our country. Either way nothing will change til AFTER the world cup anyway. Hopefully the team develops and learns to play together in the next 2 weeks they are in Austria.
