1) Andrew Gutman 2) JJ Williams Then Fernandez, Beason, Shinyashiki. Shinyashiki would be higher if it weren't for scoring only 2 goals against the 6 opponents they played that made the NCAA tournament this year. Gutman however has done it in any and all ways while playing in a very tough conference.
Methinks we have not heard the last noise from JJ Williams. And as we usually lament, this is an offensive award, regardless of how they bill it.
Gutman is the best player in college soccer. There shouldn't be any arguments there. In the last two years of watching tons of games (live and streamed), there's not been a player that's impressed me more. It'd be a shame if he didn't get it.
If I had a vote, I'd vote for the kid from Denver even taking into consideration who he scored against. 28 is a boatload of goals and some of the goals that I've seen him score this year, have been very good. I wouldn't be upset in the least if Gutman won the award. Gutman has had a very good year, too.
Gutman with a special year for a left back. 11 goals and 8 assists and leading scorer is ridiculous. What is interesting is that their 2nd leading scorer is Gutman's replacement Spencer Glass (who is a sub in the midfield) with 5 goals and 8 assists so may not be much drop off there next year.
Honored to receive the MAC Hermann Trophy! Thank you to friends, family and everyone involved with Indiana Men’s Soccer! pic.twitter.com/AuFIjkxz2L— Andrew Gutman (@_andrewgutman_) January 5, 2019 i've been off twitter since the holidays so i missed this saturday night. well deserved, imo. deciding between glasgow and chicago is tougher than this pick.
