Louisville City hosting Chicago Fire at UK's soccer facility in Lexington.

    Crazy...strange...

EDIT: this will happen IF Louisville City advances in USOC on June 1. Game against Chicago would be on June 15.

Not strange. The Bats are playing a home game at Slugger Park on June 15th. So if the game happens they are forced to play elsewhere. U of L, you would think would be an alternate location, but I think I heard or heard something when I was back home that U or L Sports Complex was undergoing some expansion this summer.

Definitely strange! That's a major pride issue there amongst Louisvillians (and Lexingtonians).

I can't image playing a "home" game that's 90 minutes away in the biggest rival city. I understand there are conflicts here or there...but, wow...never imagined this.

But, seriously though, this is the issue with teams/owners rushing into "professional" sports. There's stadium issues, fan issues, front office issues, etc. Not limited or directed directly at Louisville City. Fans expect the city to bend over backwards to build or force the team to play a certain spot. Fans what to play at a consistent location. Teams don't have a venue to play at, so they start gouging taxpayers for money. The list goes on and on. Either run a team properly, wait to run the team properly, or don't run one at all.

Major pride issues between UK fans and U of L fans not so much Louisvillians and Lexingtonians especially to those that don't have a stake in either school. Trust me. I grew in Lexington (went to WKU) and lived, until moving to Denver, in Louisville for many years. Lexington revolves around UK. Louisville does not revolve around U of L.

70 miles. You can get from UK's campus to U of L's campus in a little over a hour. Straight shot. Easy drive. It's not a big deal to make that drive. Lexington vs. Louisville is not really a rivalry other than UK and U of L despite what people make you think. Two different cities. Two different interests. :D

Agreed for the most part. I wished Louisville City had a stadium lined up beforehand but they did what they needed to do to get the ball rolling on the organization. As best I know, the Louisville Bats have been gracious, bend over backwards landlords. I don't know if LCFC has any immediate plans for a stadium but I suspect there are some on the table.

I get Lexington/Louisville, trust me. My in-laws live in Kentucky. I married, basically, a Lexingtonian (grew up there for 22 years). There is major pride in the cities. It doesn't take much to read the post from LCFC on facebook to see that many fans aren't happy about the decision.

Nevermind the fact that I went to college and lived around Lexington for 5 years -- in the last 12 years. It's a great thing for Lexington to have soccer coming to town. Downside for the fans as there'll be no beer at the stadium (as far as I know). There's a lot that Lexington won't support when it comes to Louisville.

And to nitpick a little, 60 minutes from UK to UL? What are you driving? It's roughly 80 miles from campus to campus. Have you spent time on those interstates and/or cities recently? Construction constantly. New Circle Road in Lexington seems to always be a nightmare with traffic. However you have done it, I need to drive that way so it doesn't take so long to get back to the in-laws!

I have no dog in the fight but im rooting for Louisville. Im in Ohio but i have family in Lou and its a cool city.

Has there been any recent news or developments on a new LouCity stadium? I hope you guys build something realistic size but impressive and not the equivalent of a high school football stadium.

    Anyway. Good luck!
