It looks like someone's driven across the bridge, (westminster bridge, presumably), and tried to kill people by mowing them down. It seems at least one person, a woman, had died :(

I think he's then tried to attack the downing street area and stabbed a policeman and has been shot but, by the looks of it, he's still alive.

People were throwing themselves off the bridge apparently.

Two attackers, one white with a bald head and one black with a goatee beard.

The police have said it is a terrorist incident which, tbh, seems like a statement of the bleedin' obvious, but... y'know...

    From the Guardian:

Police confirm that four people have died in the London attack today, including one police officer and the attacker.

Officers believe there was only one attacker at this stage. At least twenty police have been injured.

I think this is the first confirmation that the attacker is dead and that there is believed to be only one.

Yeah, now they think it's just the one guy who's dead.

There's the one woman who it seems was killed by his car. Then the cop who he stabbed and someone else which I think might be a French schoolkid but I'm not sure.

As I've said elsewhere, we're helped by the fact it's almost impossible to get guns over here for any reason. Otherwise they could be a lot worse.

Not really. If the assailant was white and American and it took place in the states, the reason would be mental illness.

You are comparing a majority to a minority. If the assailant were white, American and also in scientology/mormonism - this fact would be a feature of the story.

    From the Guardian live blog:

Assistant deputy commissioner Mark Rowley names the police officer that has died as Keith Palmer.

The Met police have now confirmed that five people, including the attacker died in the attack today. At least 40 people have been injured.

He declined to give any details of the attacker but said he was thought to be inspired by international terrorism

This seems to be the biggest attack in a while. I'm thinking the number of attacks in the West will continue to decrease with the reversal in ISIS' fortunes.

You just predicted the future ... Mass shooting happened today in Northern Wisconsin with 4 killed. No identity disclosed, but Wausau, Wisconsin is pretty much an all white town.

    http://www.waow.com/story/34973919/...ws-wausau-police-report-gunshots-officer-down

Shooting rampage started at a bank, continued to a law office and ended at the suspect's apartment.

Correct. There will be a decrease but the long term effects in terms of laws/surveillance remain if not increase. The next possible wave hopefully is not til at-least the children/grandchildren of these undocumented migrants. This is when we see the resentful national born types. Which the majority of the attacks in 2015/16 were committed by. The most likely fear is a future where random calls of injustice [Erdogan] are answered with actions by 2nd and 3rd generation born.

He was apparently an English teacher from Kent who had a string of criminal convictions over 30 years but none of them terror related. Married father of 3, believed to have acted alone.

    Yeah, so I saw.

The thing is, we're presented with 2 possibilities... that he was a terrorist OR he was simply a nutter when the reality is BOTH are correct. He was a terrorist AND he was a nutter.

It's hard to figure out why, at the age of 52 with a wife and a child, he should have gone off the rails to this extent, though. You'd have thought he would have done something before this point if he was going to.

Some members of Parliament including the Prime Ministers made short speeches declaring that the terrorist wasn't a Muslim, was a perversion of the religion and various similar statements. Wait until Trump, his white nationalist clique and other Christian v Muslim war crusaders hear this.

I haven't got much time for the guy but the pig-fecker was right when he said this about a previous incident where someone shouted out at the guy, 'You ain't no muslim, Bruv'...

The thing to bear in mind is that, despite all the techie stuff we do watching people, the biggest single element in all this protecting us is the information supplied BY the muslim community if they think someone's going off the rails. That's what's kept us safe on several occasions and ANY attempt to undercut that by anti-muslim rhetoric, (such as that which comes from donny tiny-hands), has to be fought.

I watched the Prime Minister's speech, she didn't say the attacker was "not a Muslim".

She spoke of a perversion of religion. Another member of Parliament spoke of the terrorist not being a Muslim.

Why is Nigel Farage making the rounds of right-wing TV in the U.S. saying that this attack proves the necessity and correctness of Trump's travel ban? What in the effing world does one have to do with the other?
