Yes, Three San Jose Frogs were drafted today, note bad for a lowly PDL team posed to take the Soythwest in 2008. Way to go Lowry, Sassano and McDonald.
I am mistaken, 8 San Jose Frogs taken three of which went to the smog suckers. Were others missed as well? Rob Valentino, drafted by New England Revolution Peter Lowry, drafted by Chicago Fire Luke Sassano, drafted by Red Bull New York Matt Marques, drafted by Kansas City Crew Javier Ayala Hill, drafted by Chicago Fire Brandon McDonald, drafted by Los Angeles Galaxy Matt Hatzke, drafted by Los Angeles Galaxy Stephen Wondolowski signed with MLS Champion Houston Dynamo Daniel De Geer (San Francisco St. Supplemental Draft) drafted by Los Angeles Gals I'd nominate De Geer for the best S.J. Frogs home goal of 2007. 30 yards out slightly left beating the keeper left. Still waiting for the S.J / S.J. Open Cup matchup.
From the Mercury News (Feb 1) Frogs leap to MLS By Elliott Almond Mercury News Article Launched: 02/01/2008 01:41:41 AM PST Although the San Jose Frogs might sound like a local youth soccer club, be advised the 2007 team just sent 10 players to Major League Soccer. Had one of its goalies been selected, the Premier Development League team would have supplied an entire squad. As it is, nine were picked in the recent college draft: Santa Clara's Matt Hatzke, Peter Lowry and Matt Marquess; USF's Daniel De Geer, Brandon McDonald and Rob Valentino; Cal's Luke Sassano and Javier Ayala-Hil; and UC Santa Cruz's Adam Smarte. The Houston Dynamo signed Frogs defender Stephen Wondolowski (UC Santa Cruz) in September. Lowry, a midfielder picked by the Chicago Fire, said the Frogs offer Bay Area players serious off-season competition. "Everyone is reaping the benefits right now," he said of the high-caliber play that drew professional scouts. The Frogs get their name from club owner Hartmut Esslinger, whose Sunnyvale company is Frog Design Inc. The German industrial designer worked with Steve Jobs in the early 1980s to develop Apple's Macintosh. http://www.mercurynews.com/othersports/ci_8137351?nclick_check=1
