You can only hope in time he can make his own Salah street. As talented as Robben was as a young guy I dont think anybody seen him developing into the decisive player he became. Salah is pretty much at the same place Robben was at a similar age. Whether or not he can become this player as he gets older is really a 50/50 shot in the dark. Even if he doesnt make it to that level he will still be a top player though and so worth keeping.
I think Salah as an attacker is relatively replaceable, but his ability to cover and break another team's press with his hyper drive is a god send.
It's not his speed that I like, it's his technical ability. I think as fans we tend to be overly critical of the team/players we follow the most. Salah has one of the highest shot accuracy % and goals per shot in Europe. His first touch is amazing and he tracks back. There are very, very few wingers I'd trade Salah for.
This is why I think Roma fans vastly undervalue Salah because this trait carries onto the field. He's only taken 52 shots, I have no doubt that if he were more selfish and he'd have at least 15 goals (has 11 now).
Salah is also only 23 and is only going to get better. Between him and SES, we could eventually develop something really special on the wings.
You may be right, I'm willing to accept that I can be hyper critical at times. Like I said I hope he stays.. but I worry that someone is going to make a huge offer and that management has the same critical eye that you mentioned.
Well, for a club like Roma I don't think there isn't a player on the roster that doesn't have a price. If a team like Barca, Man U or RM come and throw an obscene amount of money for a player Roma would have to take it.
This is why being a Roma fan is so hard sometimes.... I envy my friends who follow RM and the likes sometimes...
this is exactly it. For a 23 year old kid, he's pretty damn good at what he does. Add to this that: - its still a relatively new league for him, - he's still adapting to the team and the players around him (for example, i have no doubt in my mind that Pjanic, if he stays, and him will develop something special communication wise) - has a lot of things to learn and is also willing to learn which goes into his humble persona as people mentioned. If Salah is still not considered as ''untouchable'', which imo is extremely close to be, he will be by next year, guaranteed.

Paredes reminds me of a young DDR with his passing and tenacity to harrass players with the ball but his tackling isn't the best....YET.
I watched a couple of Empoli matches I found to download after we discussed Paredes in the transfer thread the other day. Have to say that I could easily be wrong about saying Paredes is two full seasons away from playing DM effectively for a CL caliber team. He looks a lot more comfortable in that DM role than I had thought when posting the other day. However, still agree with you that he's pretty "unpolished" all around on the defensive side of things.
Ponce scored in his debut, could have scored another at the end. https://www.youtube.com/embed/0I3gPQrX7QE
Our striker talents are all having a terrible year, nothing to write home about for Ponce, Sanabria or Sadiq.
