That ball caught the wind with a lot of spin and changed direction after the defenders had positioned for dealing with it. Not really blame apportionable to Lovren. Son's not the guy you want on your shoulder in that situation either. Scary player..........
Well said @hubbabubba. Yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Literally, Hendo's match against United: 78% passing, 32 successful passes on 49 touches, 1/3 crosses, 1/3 long balls, 1 bad touch, was not actively dispossessed. 3 tackles, 75% tackling success, 2 ints, dribbled by once, 1 clearance, 50% aerial challenge success... I mean the passing and long balls, not great, but not really his game. Only reason United were even in the game was not because of Hendo, it was a shit foul call and a headless chicken sort of play by Robbo, followed by clinical counter and inch-perfect cross. Apart from that, Hendo helps control that match in which United really didn't have much of anything going. And I didn't just compile this... literally a copy-paste from another conversation on this exact topic. So believe me that I'm not saying it's impossible I'm missing something. I must be missing something for so many people to say he wasn't good in these two matches. But... I'm not seeing it to my eye test, and more importantly I don't see it reflected anywhere in the stats other than Hendo is at times being asked to cross like Trent and he just can't do that.
On our left, Lovern’s right, as we looked at it, Lovern did get caught again by the touchline as he had done against Genk. Can’t remember if this was the incident, but Lovern is certainly not comfortable on the ball in tight corners.
I think he’s the best player in the league who doesn’t play for either Liverpool or City. Edit: Kante is good too, but he only plays against Liverpool.
Ok I’m not going that far - but if someone can’t appreciate what he can bring (and understand some limitations) then they are just hating because it’s the cool thing to do.
Trent’s passing: Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Tottenham @Carra23 🗣 "It's like having De Bruyne at right-back" https://t.co/dVi2atR9F4— The Anfield Wrap (@TheAnfieldWrap) October 28, 2019
Most discussions about Henderson almost end up this way. Not just here, but on other boards and on the airwaves. As I said earlier, it’s not binary, good or bad, hate or love blah blah
In the same way the last 15 minute sof the Man Utd game was an improvement over the first 80 mins. The point, I think, being that Spurs scoring so early woke us up early. United game we didn't really pile on the pressure until getting toward the last ten minutes of the game.
now that Hazard's gone, could be..... De Gea, Son, Pogba, Kante, Ozil they are all pretty unique players....
,,, it’s a discussion. All of us have a responsibility to make sure it stays that. It's a weird one, that. He's virtually been injured since he played against Liverpool. Watch his recovery when Chelsea visit Anfield and immediate relapse after the match.
