You wanted heavy metal, you got heavy metal Philippe Coutinho's goal was the 250th @LFC have scored under Jurgen Klopp, in his 128th game in charge.Coutinho & Roberto Firmino are joint top scorers under Klopp, 37 goals each pic.twitter.com/YrL07sed24— Sky Sports Statto (@SkySportsStatto) December 26, 2017
FT 5-0 to Liverpool MOTM is Captain Phil! Great opening goal, great free kick assist for the second. But he also played hard for 90 plus. Could and might should have been Hard Bobby with a great goal and a tap in Trent Alexander Arnold took a great goal for number 3. As I eluded in my earlier post, it looked like Gerrard with the strike and the celebration. And he even sounds a bit like him in the interview The King of Egypt had many chances but wasn’t lucky on the day. Ran and ran and unselfishly set up Bobby for his second. Ox took his goal well but as he said in the interview he didn’t have a great day. Not bad not not great. Can and Gini really had little to do. But both of them had some strange passes to the Swans under no pressure Robertson is a good solid fullback but today TAA had the better outing. Matip, glad to see him playing again. Did OK Klavan again had a very good match killing the few chances Swansea had with ease Mignolet had nothing to do until a pretty good save from the last kick of the day. Solanke could have had a hat trick in 20 minutes. Did everything right and was truly unlucky not to score Glad to see Lallana working his way into fitness Milner gave us ten solid Milner minutes YNWA
[QUOTE="liverbird, post: 36188014, member: 11169" As I eluded in my earlier post, [/QUOTE] what did you elude?
That's the match I saw, too. I recall a pubmate saying that Wijnaldum and Can were below average during the match.
They were ok. Can doesn’t really care. Gini doesn’t excel against bus parkers - he’s really key in games against big teams for tempo and control.
First half was Too Much Christmas Pudding, second half was Heavy Metal. Cout showed again why he's not going anywhere in January; great strike by TAA.
How many right backs in the world have the athleticism and skill to score the goal Trent scored? He is a complete player who has everything. Sometimes I feel like he is too good to play at fullback and that his future is in midfield. Or maybe it’s best to leave him where he is and let him develop into one of the world’s best. Attacking fullbacks are so important to the way Klopp wants to play and he could be a real difference maker for years to come. Hopefully Gomez’ long term future will be at centerback and they will both be regulars in our back four for many years.
That was enjoyable. I'm glad it was relatively straight forward. Watching with family members who aren't into footy is challenging. The conversation was centered on systemic racism, the current political situation, and the theological responses to such things. Keeping it light with the Mennonites...
Ox's post-game comments very self-critical, getting a lot of online kudos .... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/future-captain-material-liverpool-fans-11756295
I'm normally hesitant to compare a young player to others who came before but Trent's development reminds me of another young Scouse mf'er who broke into the team first at right back before becoming one of our greatest ever players........Stevie G. I liked the slide on his knees when celebrating the goal, also quite Gerrard-esque. If Trent develops anywhere close to the level of SG I'll be well pleased.
TAA now has more goals for the club than Clyne who's been the club’s regular full-back for two full seasons.
couldn't say it better speke. TAA has huge - huge - potential. between him and Gomez, and Robbo, our backline is looking very healthy for years to come imo.
Well done Reds - as usual LB pretty well summed it up. Happy Boxing Day 5-0...three points...back to fourth Next?
'Twas a nice stomping on a regulation-level club. Still doesn't make up for Arse draw but it was nice to behold. Wish these matches counted more than 3pts but alas. We better bench Salah as the lad's in a slump and didn't score.
Apart from the Catastrophe at City and Spurs,We Are Unbeaten in the League and have lost the fewest Matches outside of Man City. But 8 Draws have Derailed a Campaign which Could Have Been So Much Better. The 4 Recent Draws -Chelsea,Everton,West Brom and Arsenal We were Naive and We Should Be Richer for the Experience. But What a High it Would have Been Trading Blow to Blow with City. In Klopp We Trust.YNWA.
You didn't elude his comment about your allusion to your other post? (Trying to channel Stilts here...).
We have only conceded 3 goals at home which is the best in the Premier League. Our defense has had some very shaky performances away from home, but this shows that our defending is not as bad as people say. Overall we dominate games and do not give away many chances. We seem to be better at defending set pieces which was our downfall for many years. We still have to cut out individual errors, but Klopp has us attacking like we did under Rodgers while still maintaining a strong defensive shape. Hopefully we can land VVD in January and see how good our defending can be when Klopp has the player he desperately wanted.
