I think this is a joke and a bit disrespectful for the kids. A 28 Y.O. playing against 20 Y.O. players in an U20 tournament. I know he is not the only one obviously, but he's taking the spot of a young player. They should limit the age at this tournaments. What's the point of having an U20 tournament if you have players over 28 and beyond?. Geez... It should strictly be for U20 players.
this works as a reserve league, maybe limit the amount of games an over 20 player can play per season.
There's a limit of how much overage players you can use but I don't know what it is but cruz azul fielded 4 overage players in jornada 2 and only 2 or 3 extranjeros is allowed. and i think that's part of the problem the u20 league shouldn't be treated as a reserve league for players who can't cut in the first team, the u20 league should be used to develop players and find talent for the first team. but sucks there's always overage age players playing in every jornada someone should let the fmf know that u20 means under 20 maybe a reserve league for the overage troncos?
but playing overage players give the U-20 kids the experience of playing with and versus first division tested players. Many times they use the U-20 league to bring players into full fitness when coming back from injury, or to keep them playing when suspended in primera, not necessarily a bad thing to have older players playing U-20 but keep it to a minimum I would say.

I haven't really made up my mind about overage players getting minutes in the U20 league. I initially didn't like that some clubs seem to have overage guys playing exclusively for the U20 team, but I suppose people here are right to say that it can benefit the young guys to have someone around with good experience. But the real issue I have with allowing overage players is that when random players get themselves suspended or just don't make the main squad for a week, they're sent to the U20 team. I strongly suspect that this has more potential to throw off the team chemistry than to provide useful experience.
