It is strange. Considering what we spend money on and the attention being paid to this specific issue thanks for John Stewart, they have to know it's a PR nightmare to oppose yet they seem to be motivated by something I simply don't understand.
He doesn't seem to have much of a problem taking working people's money from NY and handing it over to the .01%.
Then formidable NY senators should do a better job protecting their state. I know, I know, it's too twisted....
I'm confused about Amash now... He’s thanking Pelosi, McCarthy, and other “leaders” for increasing spending and debt at a near-record pace. This president promised to drain the swamp; instead, he’s become the PR person for the Washington establishment. https://t.co/hDwB42I1Tf— Justin Amash (@justinamash) July 26, 2019 Actually not... I think...
Justin, you voted to increase the deficit with the tax cut. So don't act as if you are a fiscal conservative. He's right that this is a kick-the-can, boost the economy now, increase the deficit, irresponsible budget. Which generally happens under Republican Presidents, because when a Dem is President then Republicans try to slash spending, so as to hurt the near-term economy. Whereas Dems don't return the favor to Republican P:residents.
He would have voted to cut spending. But the gop was unwilling to go there. Now my question is how did he vote on military spending? Did he vote in favor of the increases?
True. But to be fair, he would get double the hate from this board if that had happened. But at least he would be less of a hypocrite.
All true. Although I will say, I support fiscal conservatives of any stripe. I would prefer more spending and higher taxes. But if they have the courage to cut both, in equal measures, I salute that too.
Not right this time. I respect all true fiscal conservatives. I wouldn't vote for all of them, but I respect them.
What about those who vote for a bloated military? Most of 'em do. So they have as many blind spots as Dems do for "liberal" causes.
I just looked it up, New Jersey is screwed the most out of all 50 states, in terms of sending the most net $$ to the federal government per capita. Iowa, of course, is a net taker.
Quietly, that was some kind of bill. I can't think of any other bill wherein the party that controlled the Presidency and both houses of Congress so targeted the opposing party's voters. (I mean, such bills may well have occurred, I just don't know about them.) The bill had two main aspects: 1) corporate handout, and 2) increase the wealth transfer from blue to red states. On the other hand, while the wealth transfer wasn't much discussed, the GOP did pay for the bill in the 2018 House elections. Not a Libertarian fail, per se. I wanted to write about this topic, but I confess that it doesn't belong here.
If dems wanted to return the favor, they would have to look to cut military spending, which might not be as popular as cutting Medicaid, food stamps, etc. (apparently) are.
Neither are popular. Which is why neither ever gets cut, not meaningfully, and which is why all tax cuts are fraudulent.
No need....der Trumph just did that by siphoning off a couple billion $$ for a humanitarian wall! Whatta guy!!
Nah, reintroduce the deductions for State income and Sales tax (Property tax optional) just put a max deduction like a million or so. But that would mean less revenue, so the Democrats won't do it.
Rand Paul wants to send the black chick back to Africa too. He'll even buy her a ticket because she probably can't afford her own. https://news.vice.com/en_us/article...-something-remarkably-racist-about-ilhan-omar
