because as Corinthians fans, Corinthians is solely responsible for their actions while going to watch Corinthians play
That was a great counter attack goal. And Lara 2-0 over Newell's (!) EDIT: Whoops, now 2-1 in injury time.
yeah good work by Herrera (I think) RC are doing better than what I expected, hardworking team and will prove difficult in the altitude of Cuzco
On soccer-related news, Newell's Old Boys loss 1-2 to Lara in Venezuela. These "unknowns" are making quite some noise in this year's tournament.
I only tonight found out that Newell's has Gabriel Heinze and Maxi Rodríguez on its roster. Two former World Cup players.
Scocco is far better at this stage than Maxi. If Maxi could shoot, Newell's would have won this game. What was he doing? He was as we would say in english pussy-footing in front of goal a few times. Really bad game from Maxi. Overall, he's been shit since he returned from Europe
Grupos 7 y 8 son un mejunje. Todos tienen 3 puntos. Me encanta como juega Libertad. They're a club with personality, always loyal to that tik-tak-tik-tak style, short passing all the way to the front. I know the IFFHS is considered a big fat joke by many people who know their stuff, but they're right in always keeping this team very high (#15 in the world right now).
I agree. I like how Libertad passes the ball very well, has solid possession, is clearly superior to Tigre in ballhandling, and how its players are showing some serious skill in managing the football. By the way, why did that Tigre player kick something when he got to his bench? He didn't want to get subbed?
Awesome free kick goal by Gonzalez. And some of Tigre's players took umbrage. Guinazu, the veteran, there to calm the nerves of his countrymen who play for the local side. Libertad impressed me - they thoroughly dominated Tigre, although Tigre did lose one man. I'll have to keep an eye on them going forward, especially as Libertad and Palmeiras will play soon enough - in Paraguay. Tigre with a home defeat on its first-ever Libertadores match. Let's see if they have anything left from their 2012 Copa Sul-Americana campaign - they did reach the final. They visit Sporting Cristal in 1 week.
These two-three weeks has seen hot and cold teams. Its like you don't know which team to expect anymore.
Tigre did win both of its playoff matches. But Deportivo Anzoátegui wasn't the toughest opposition. Libertad is very good. Palmeiras, despite relegation, has good players and nearly beat Corinthians last Sunday. Sporting Cristal - I don't know much about them, but I think I read they had an exhibition tour in which they beat Peñarol on PKs. I speculate Peñarol didn't change much from this exhibition tour, and given they're 2 for 2, they're a good team. Which means Cristal is quite competitive - they are also the defending Peruvian champions. In summary: Tigre will have to up its game dramatically if it wants to reach the knockout stage.
Fossati was fired by Cerro after the loss vs Garcilaso. What failure he turned out to be, not only for his tactics but for his big mouth. Cerro has some great young talent that he never really gave opportunities to in favor of old washed up guys.
