We've sucked, we got better now but I still don't think we're too good at the moment.

The good news is that we're in the Sudamericana 2008.

Poor Luqueno is horrible now, their gonna get raped at the Libertadores.

We took their best player from them. I wouldn't mind seeing them in the same group as Fla..:D

Your statement is not logic. They're two different ideas:

    1. Some of us want the Mexies out (I really can't stand some of your fans, but you have very good teams, regardless where they hire their talent). What I really do not like is the two round bye in Sudamericana.

    2. Argentina and Brazil get too many teams to the continental competition. It seems like being 11th or 12th in their tournament grants them a berth to Sudamericana. That can be easily solved with a coeficient based formula and/or with a maximum and minimum limit to the amount of teams each country can send to Continental competitions.

I do not have a problem with the preliminary round in Libertadores and 40 teams playing. Each country should send their worst classified team to this test of fire. And the seeding should be done after the preliminary round, that way we can prevent two teams from the same country in the same group.

Sudamericana is the one that needs a serious revamp. Make it 24 teams, only one round bye to the top 8 ranked teams, regardless of their origin. No more than 3 teams per country plus the champion. And no same country matches in the preliminary round or in the round of sixteen.

Yes, Olimpia used to be a fixture at Libertadores. Also, where the hell is Penarol?

Why does Argentina get 6 and Brazil only 5? Is that because of past result. :)

I know it's never going to happen, because Conmebol need the big clubs to make it work financially. But, I wish Sudamericana was like UEFA cup in Europe. It should exclude the teams that make it to Copa Libertadores, and give a chance to other clubs .

Sudamericana should not be for teams like Boca, Sao Paulo, Colo Colo, Penarol, etc. It should be for teams like Arsenal, Goias and Cienciano. That's why it's a good thing to see Arsenal win it.

In 2007 and 2006 it was Brazil that had 6 spots and Argentina 5, right?

Yesterday at TyC Sports they said that both Arsenal and Lanús will have to play the play-off not just Lanús as it was thought, which means Argentina gets 4 direct spots.

Yep. This year, Cruzeiro will play in the Pre-Libertadores. Last year, Paraná (played Cobreloa) and Santos (played Blooming) in the Pre-Libertadores before getting into the real competition. I guess countries that have the defending champion must send 2 to the Pre-Libertadores instead of one.

Ah, i guess that makes some more sense. Will the champion of the Brasileirão take part in the Sudamericana 2008 too? I know that's the only brazilian side that takes part in both but will it remain like that for 2008 too?

Unless there is a rule change I do not know about, São Paulo, the current champ, should participate in next year's edition.
