We have some holes to fill and some depth to add - but we have to find a way forward for some of the young talent: Young Talent: Grujic, AA, Woodburn, Kent, Wilson, Ojo, Ejaria, Gomez Returning Injured Players: Ings, Henderson, Mane Outgoing: Moreno, Sakho, Lucas (?) Needs: Left back, DM/CM, Winger, CB, Forward and...SPEED G: Migs, Karius RB: Clyne, AA LB: Milner, ?? CB: Matip, Lovren, Klavan, Gomez Mids: Lallana, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Grujic, Forwards/Wings: Mane, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Ings, Origi
I think we'll see 5 players for our first team: 1 CB - this may be our most expensive purchase 1 LB - Sessegnon is the flavor of the day, but don't think a 16/17 yr old is the best way to go. Wouldn't be surprised to see both Robertson and Sessegnon signed. 1 CM - papers keep saying Keita. 2 Attacking types - somebody like Sisto from Celta (would be like signing Mane when Soton did, could be great, could be a bust) and a player like Forsberg or Brandt who we could reasonably expect to push for a starting spot.
I hope that we see Gomez emerge as a quality CB option for us. Don't understand why he was limited to League Cup matches. I think we'll see a lot more from Grujic next season, too.
whoever we sign for striker/forward/midfield, I want to see a game-changer level player. overall what we need is someone who can unlock packed defences. that is by far our biggest challenge.
I could see us signing 2 CM's. Keita seems like a great option for the role that Lallana and Wijnaldum played most of this season. We could also use another player for the holding role considering Henderson's injury problems. Lucas is probably on his way out and it is still unclear what position Klopp sees Can's long term future in.
Besides the obvious needs I'd like to see us pick up DM specialist to close out games or to use against a particularly strong opponent .
It will be an interesting few weeks to see who are genuine targets with the likelihood of signing and which players leave the club.....two things are certain, the current squad needs a few additions and Klopp has the money to spend I would like a marque signing or two
Buckle up, it's gonna be a wild ride. Part of me just wants to wait until I see pictures of new signings next to Klopp holding a scarf. But I know I won't. I'll most likely read every ridiculous article that "links" players to Liverpool even when I know most of them are complete nonsense.
Ok so I am signing in to keep up. I think Klopp has a set of options ready. I think contacts have been made. It's now down to money and Klopp closing. Let's see how it goes. Agree we need another CB so Lovren gets to be 3rd choice, DM, attacking mid, another wide striker, and a goal scoring threat. Will we get all of that?
And silly season is well and truly under way: http://www.football365.com/news/casillas-agrees-to-join-liverpool-reports Legendary Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool. Casillas is leaving Porto this summer and – according to Spanish newspaper AS – has had offers from Liverpool, Turkey, China and Qatar. But it seems that double Champions League winner Casillas, now 36, wants at least one more season in elite European football and sees Liverpool’s offer as the most ‘solid’; there are even suggestions that he has already signed a deal. Casillas has won the World Cup and European Championship with Spain and would provide valuable experience to a Liverpool squad largely lacking in big names.
I heard that the Iker rumour is true - and next season he and Ray Clemence will be fighting it out for first-choice goalie.
It looks like Lacazette is off to Atleti, which is a shame. The Bakayoko rumours are surprising, given that one of Can’s conditions for signing a new contract is apparently that he’ll see more playing time at DM. Henderson was also hugely impressive in that position prior to his injury. One important issue is whether Klopp intends to use a 3-5-2 next season. It’s a formation we’re likely to come up against a lot both in the PL and in Europe, and it’s one Klopp tried out a few times – without much success – this season. I suspect it’s an option Klopp will want to have available to him, even if it won’t necessarily be our default formation.
any mf signings will be highly dependent on what the expectations are for Hendo's chances of a full recovery.
From what I've seen of Keita he looks phenomenal. He would be an outstanding signing and seems like the perfect Klopp player.
