If he leaves DFB , who can be his successor?

Thomas Tuchel? Roger Schmidt? Jurgen Klopp?

Neither Pep nor Favre are German, so I doubt they will be considered. Plus Pep will not leave Man City, and his style of coaching and philosophy better suits day to day club training rather then intermittent international training.

Klopp is a possibility, Nagelsmann is too young to be going into international coaching imo, he will prefer to stay in club football. Tuchel is another option, but I expect him to go to an elite club instead.

I think the DFB will most likely promote from within.

Thats not even a thing ... Confed Cup Winners never winning the WC is a much bigger thing.... but not even that makes any sense ... specially the case that it was a different German Team that won the Confed cup then the team that will be playing in Russia....

Germany can only loose this WC due to some serious bad mistakes by coach or by team on the day

I'd love Favre bout doubt he'd be considered. Pep wouldn't take the job and Klopp isn't good enough at organizing possession for the NT. Nagelsmann would be great but he seems set with Bayern as his next step. So Tuchel really is the NT's best hope, though I'd rather see him working with players day to day for a club like BMG...or if he was really cool Union Berlin :p

looks like Low is staying put... he wants that last NT trophy the Euros.;)

DFB.de: Looking ahead to 2018 now, when did you start preparing for the World Cup in Russia?

Grindel: At the draw for the group stages. It was a very special moment to experience it all next to Jogi Löw and with the great Pele sitting in front of me. We spoke intensively that evening following the draw about our plans for how to approach the tournament. Honestly, I’ve already got World Cup fever and I’m looking forward to going to Russia. We want to be World Cup winners again.

DFB.de: Is there the possibility that if Germany do manage to win the World Cup again, that it can’t really get any better for the head coach and he’ll stop?

Grindel: I know from speaking to Jogi Löw that he really wants to win the Euros - that’s a title that has eluded him to this point. I also get the impression that he feels very comfortable in his current role. As a result, I don’t really have any concerns about that. It’s a pleasure to see how he succeeds again and again at working with a group of people and forming them into a team that is perfectly prepared for the task at hand.

I’m not sure I want to think of a NT without Löw right now. How does he stack up against previous coaches?

    well you decide
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany_national_football_team_manager#Statistical_summary

would say looking at that Helmut Schon has the edge for winning the WC and EC. Which made Germany the 1st country to hold both the WC and EC back to back. An EC>>>>>>CC.

although Schon does seem to have some embarrassing tournaments, like failing to qualify for EC68 and R2 exit at WC78. Low seems to be the most consistent coach in the NT and also has the most wins in the history too. Beckenbauer did pretty well too in his 3 tourneys.

I know that historically Löw's record has been one of the best of all time IIRC from a pure statistical perspective.

one thing is for sure if he retains the WC he can be considered the best NT manager of all time from any country.

based on Low taking about the UEFA Nations league and being excited about it and the draw with France/Netherlands and Grindel's past comments.

I think EC2020 will be it for Low.
1-He's been in demand by clubs for years and I mean almost all the major clubs have interest in him
2-He's talked about it in the past that he missed club football. Where you work with players every day vs NT where it's here and there.
3-He wants a final chance to win the Euros.

all point to 2020 will be it by then it will have lasted 14 years (+another 2 as assistant coach). Wow that's a decade and a half. Will be weird once we get a new coach and our now only 2 years and a half away from having someone new.
