All those foreign leagues you all love to praise have more foreigners than Mexicos because of the EU passport. Spanish, German, French, Italian, English.

Remind me which national teams are favorites to win the world cup every cycle.

Not nitpicking just pointing out how that era where the most “success” was had also had its trip ups.

Good observations and thread. If one looks at it from the perspective of player quality and mentality, I would say I've seen a positive change in those two player qualities compared to 15-20 years ago for those who made the European move even if just to practice there like Tomas Boy and a few others like to point out. For my two cents, I don't think certain players would of developed as solid as they did in those two categories had they stayed in Mexico, particularly with the players who were bought outright to Netherlands teams (Maza comes to mind :D) On the other hand you have the Pablo Barreras and Efrain Juarezes?)

What Mexico needs to succeed on an international level is forgot about offense this and offense that and learn that international football is mostly reliant upon strong defensive schemes and learn to defend against set pieces. Mexico has top quality defenders and one or two high quality defensive midfielders, focus on bring more up and of even higher quality. I can't remember a recent world cup where offense schemes overrode a potent defensive scheme. Remembering 1994 to now it seems defense won the day with a quick counter or two. For many years not even Brazil makes offense as their main focus so why should Mexico keep banging it's head with this argument? That 7-0 Chilean defense and counter attack scheme should of been a big hint. :whistling: Though that's just me.:geek:
