Honestly, until the freshman Bwana arrived, Wingo has been the only player on the Huskies team that played like a future pro player. Coffee and Rice are decent as well.
Here are head shots of the 10 players we know have left school early this offseason. See if you can spot a trend... Seyi Adekoya Reggie Cannon Abu Danladi Kortne Ford Jose Hernandez Jonathan Lewis Hector Montalvo Miles Robinson Henry Wingo Jackson Yueill
David Norman Jr signs a contract with VWFC 2 and will not return to Oregon State for his Sophmore year. He will now count as a domestic, league wide, if he ever makes it to MLS under the new Canadian domestic rules. http://www.whitecapsfc.com/wfc2/pos...gn-david-norman-jr-professional-contract-wfc2
Is this true for all Canadians? So, if any Canadians are drafted or signed, they won't count as an international for US team? I knew that some players were specifically called out, Awuah, Nanco, couple others (and the 2 Canadian GAs). I just didn't know that the rule extended to others.
If a player joins a Canadian MLS club's academy before 16 and signs their first pro contract with an MLS team/USL affiliate, they count as domestic league wide. Canadians can be counted as domestic if they are selected as Generation Adidas Canada, or if they played for a club/academy approved by MLS/CSA prior to signing with the league (that list has never been disclosed or elaborated upon). This year, all 5 Canadians who were drafted will be counted as domestic across the league, even though 3 of them seemingly don't meet the qualifications. Basically, MLS is making every young Canadian a league wide domestic these days and just making it up as they go.
No. MLS figured a way to work within the labor law to get Canadian players preference without giving the preference because they are Canadian. They created a home grown exemption. So its not all Canadian players, but just those that are able to qualify as home grown players. That also works for non-US African and Hispanic. For example Raul Mendiola takes up a foreign player spot on the Galaxy. If he signed as a young player under then new rules, he would not. However Miguel Aguilar, who was drafted out of college and was not part of an academy would still require a spot. It is a long simmering point of frustration for Canadian soccer fans.

I would call that a .500 team in MLS, and you can win an MLS Championship playing slightly above .500.

Kind of amazes me that with all the talent in the ACC and all the success ACC schools had last year, that only one ACC non-senior has turned pro so far this off-season.
It is very surprising but several highly rated recruits never made it to campus like Isaiah Young, Matthew Olosunde, Will Pulisic and Auston Trusty.
A lot of highly selective schools in the ACC.. Given the money that MLS pays US kids and the quality education (especially at higher cost private schools like Notre Dame, Duke and Wake) it is not surprising. Bigger surprise is how many Georgetown kids leave for rather marginal deals.
