I checked. RSL was indeed broadcasting games in Reno: http://www.sltrib.com/home/2241574-155/pierce-rsls-new-tv-deal-expands
Wow! In one fell swoop, RSL's TV reach expands from 897,390 homes to 5,088,130 It's about 1.6 million more homes than Chicago; 2.1 million more than Philadelphia; 2.6 million more than New England; 2.7 million more than Washington D.C.; 2.5 million more than Dallas; 2.8 million more than San Jose; 3.5 million more than Colorado; 3.3 million more than Seattle; 3.9 million more than Portland; and 4.1 million more than Kansas City. A MLS story linked in one of the other threads stated One concern relating to San Antonio is whether the market is big enough. In terms of television market size, San Antonio ranks 33rd. Out of current MLS teams, only Salt Lake City is smaller. Not any more!
http://www.thisiscosmoscountry.com/...o-face-liga-side-eibar-in-las-vegas-friendly/ New York Cosmos vs. Eibar, May 25, 7 pm at Sam Boyd. What an oddly delightful friendly that almost nobody will attend. Tickets start at $28.
The potential Raiders' stadium in Las Vegas will start MLS expansion talk http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/sto...as-vegas-will-start-mls-expansion-talk-091616
I don't think it's a good idea to quickly go from no pro teams in a market to three. And three is a lot for cities this size.
Yeah, Vegas grew unbelievably fast but it's still not that big. Plus, it is very much a transient town, so people who have moved there came with alliances and biases already in place.
I had posted earlier in the below thread that Beckham may be bailing but I thought he would sell his franchise rights...... 28, sooner or later.
Time is ticking on David Beckham's Miami MLS bid, with deadline talk, Vegas speculation increasing (by @brianstraus) https://t.co/05EHqicoxu pic.twitter.com/RRoxNq61pP— SI Soccer (@si_soccer) December 12, 2016 More from the internets
Actually it's just regurgitation. All comments tie exactly to the same twitter post. The only thing new is MBU has officially denied it, including a Tim Leiweke.
Which means nothing. "IF" Beckham is actually considering a move to LV, it would have to be Ok'd by the MLS BoG first. Becks can't say anything beforehand; if the BoG says no, MBU is stuck trying to make it work in Miami (or selling to someone else to try). Leiweke is too smart to burn any bridge unnecessarily. I'm playing the "IF" card heavily. I've followed Pedro on twitter, and he's never seemed to be an unfounded gossip hound. I think this has legs, TBH.
Just as much nothing as one tweet. The real question you want to debate though is if Vegas does get Miami's slot, does that screw Sacramento again?
I don't think so. MLS can't wait for Beckham to find a home in one city or another forever. That wouldn't just put SRFC on hold. It would put all expansion candidate cities on hold, and put MLS on hold too. That's not where the league wants to be according to Garber's recent comments. The league wants to move ahead and they can't keep waiting for Beckham. When Beckham is ready (if he's ever ready) the league will have a place for him, but the days of MLS putting plans on hold for the sake of Beckham are very quickly ending if Garber is to be believed.
I think it helps Sacramento. IF Becks coat tails the LV NFL plan, he can't start play till 2020 at the earliest. MLS isn't going to hold the process forever
All this Miami tomfoolery lends credence to my hypothesis that MLS ain't stopping at 28. Again, let's say we get to 28 and Miami is still out there with a couple other viable markets...we're going to 30+
we will go 32 teams before Miami gets a team, the fringe guys like Nashville, Indy will get in before Miami
Why? The league wants a team there. There are only a couple markets left that really matter on a national or international scale. Miami is one.
http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/12/12/will-raiders-share-las-vegas-with-david-beckham-mls-franchise/ Here's another garbage article for you @SoccerPrime To sum up this whole thing the last couple days, the rumor was started by Joe Arrigo, who blogs in Vegas and tweets a lot about UNLV football recruiting and stuff. He has "sources."
One why could be the politicians currently elected who could still be there when Miami comes up again.
