We need a place for the announced MLS expansion club LAFC.

They might change their name but I'm pretty sure it's legit.

    Anyone else agree?

Sounds good to me. Do we have some version of LA redux there now (so is this a re-title or a new subforum)?

New forum. No need to keep the Chivas USA alive. In fact that forum should be locked and moved but that's another problem for another day.

So do I need to get a groundswell of support for this or is this just a logical request that gets processed?

An announced expansion team should at least have a subforum in the MLS Expansion forum. Considering what is in there already, its more than deserving.

We should also put a forwarding subforum for Minnesota United in there.

    @Ismitje @dark knight

There is a need for a LAFC sub forum in the MLS expansion forum. It's a team that has already been announced. I think we would get some traffic in there if we created a home.
Also, we should probably create a forward only sub forum for Minnesota. Like the one we did for Sacramento.

    Thanks

I guess Minnesota already has a candidate city sub forum. Maybe just move it out to where LAFC is now?

Yeah, if LA gets it's own sub-forum outside the "Candidate Cities" grouping, so should Atlanta and Minnesota. Hell, Atlanta is starting a year before LAFC.

I have no idea why LA got placed outside of candidate cities - it's never happened before.
But are you really complaining that, despite happily getting your own sub forum, you're now not happy with the folder it's in because a different city accidently got placed outside of that folder?

Practice has always been that a team remains in "Candidate Cities" until its first draft is complete. Atlanta and Minnesota are in their proper place.

I agree that it would be nice for DK to put LAFC where it belongs. But I don't think it invalidates the other sub forums or means we need to remove LAFC.

I guess it's a bit of a misnomer - since some of these are no longer candidate cities - should we rename the forum to include teams in waiting? Thoughts on a title?

We could create a new sub forum, maybe called Approved Cities or something, and put Minnesota, LAFC and Atlanta in there. Maybe Miami too?

Or you can just make it easier on yourself and just move LAFC to the candidate cities sub forum and call it good.

Or we could consider what I just suggested.

Or maybe I'll just move them up with LA. Sort of a graduation.

Rename the forum? That's doesn't make sense, what would you do with candidates that are in there with little or no hope?
who exactly is "them"? Atlanta, Minnesota and Miami?

Whatever you decide, can we try to avoid the arrangement we have today on the USL boards? A whole bunch of forum links on the top (and then an unreal number of stickies), which pushes the current discussion so far down the page you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to see what people are actually discussion today. The USL board has become nearly unreadable, and I don't want that to happen to the MLS expansion board.

I guess that means I'm saying there should be two forums on the top, each leading to a list of specific team/place forums.

    MLS: Expansion
    -- Expansion Teams
    ---- LA, MNU, Atlanta, Miami
    -- Expansion Candidates
---- SRFC, St. Louis, and maybe a few SRFC style links to San Antonio and some other spots.

Although completely off topic, let me respond since Knave is trying to cleverly call me out. The USL is like it is because most posters want to talk about specific clubs but the sub forums have not been created. The sticky club thread has been used as a stop gap. Until a different solution can be found, that is the way it is, and it seems to be working nicely, except for Knave.

As for the Expansion forum, sure.
