Well, in that respect I was referring to fans. Re: the p-word, I honestly didn't realize people found it demeaning (at least, no more so than "F!@#" which I have also used here on occasion). Maybe it's a generational / cultural thing? For good or ill, the p-word has been in my vernacular long before Trump, for sure. In any case, I apologize if I offended, not my intent.
Geneva and I have a competition going to see who is the most snowflakey ultra-liberal on this forum....
I'll cop to the liberal label, but I'm not weighing in on the ****** debate. You guys are doing fine, though, I'm a proud forum mama.
Let me tell you a Harry Truman story and you can draw your own analogies: After Truman's term and when he was back in Missouri, he and Bess were entertaining a few of her friends. Harry got off on a rant about something and said whatever it was was a bunch of horse manure, pure rotten horse manure. One of Bess's friends was shocked and said something to the effect of "Bess, honey, can't you get Harry to stop using such course language?" Bess Truman replied, "It took me 25 years to get him to say "manure.."
Don't you ever apologize for speaking on football matters with passion, you're among club football family and this is just business as usual. Anyone doesn't like it they may want to consider supporting another sport. I support your right to speak unfiltered and honestly.
What club did this Truman play in? How did he get into football from Missouri? Did he play with Alfredo Di Stefano?
The Galaxy "always chasing new p-----" was the perfect analogy imo. I guess some were offended but it actually sums up the Gals strategy for the past 12 years or so perfectly.
They get into this topic on the RiotSquadcast (worth a listen for Galaxy fans in general). One of the guys says it's on the casual fans who only show up to see the big stars; if the Galaxy had more dedicated long-term fans, the FO wouldn't always have to pursue big names to fill seats.
Isn't a stipulation in our deal with Herbalife, that we have at least one "marquee" player on the roster throughout the deal?
Harry was president when I was born, but I never met him. After all, I was young and not yet the internet superstar that I subsequently became.
No one got upset, no one challenged your right to speak. I made a comment reflecting my personal disappointment that the p word started appearing in public discourse after media coverage of the Trump-Billy Bush video. I happen to think that referring to women by their genitalia is disrespectful and I have a right to that opinion. That doesn't make me a snowflake, a generational dinosaur or a prude. It's just a personal opinion. Also I find it ironic that you are throwing out the "snowflake" label when you are the one who is having the multiple post big reaction to a simple opinion. Relax man.
I am not sure but I am starting to question whether any of our coaches are allowed to bench the "star" players.
I resemble that remark. My politics haven't changed. I worked for Humphrey in 68 against Nixon and McGovern in 72.
God I hate LAFC so god damn much. Does any other team in mls dive as much as they do? Glad they pissed away 2 more points at home.
