Probably one of the most important games of the season.

Early control of the pace is necessary.

Last game before the international break, then we take our Fifa virus to Wanda for the biggest Liga match of the young season.

Glad we play on Sunday so we have an extra day rest from Wednesday's game, but it is an early game. 7:15 a.m. Pacific; 10:15 a.m. Atlantic.

I will wait to do any lineup predictions till we see who has been omitted (from the 18 person match squad), but thinking basically the same squad that started in Lisbon should play, with Roberto being the biggest question in that unsettled third forward position (which could be RW or LW or 4th mid).

with the international break coming up we should probably rest Iniesta. start roberto in midfield and denis on the wing. maybe rest l.suarez before he flies off to battle for Uruguay again.

    -----denis-----messi-----deulofeu-----
    --------paulinho------roberto-------------
    digne--------busquets---------semedo
    -----------umtiti------pique----------------
    ---------------ter.stegen------------------

Not a bad lineup, but why do we want to rest players before they do battle internationally? And Uruguay and Spain are both pretty clearly qualifying without drama, so let their NT coaches rest them (not to mention that ours is the club that pays them the big bucks). Messi on the other hand really does need to lead Argentina to 6 points to get them "off the bubble" and ideally avoid the (easy) playoff games. But we need that man to help us secure another W in Barca.

i'm worried about the strain on Suarez's knee. he was originally not supposed to play until next month and its probably behind his poor form lately.

Suarez will play and no doubt have one of the worst games by any player ever.

Still cannot find the 18 man squad listing (I figured that came out 24 hours in advance, but apparently not). News on the opponent front says we won't see two former Barca players (one of whom we still have rights too): Las Palmas have suffered a host of major injury blows, seeing Alen Halilovic, Loic Remy, Dani Castellano, Pedro Bigaas and Vitolo ruled out for the clash against Barcelona. Barca loanee, Sergi Samper has also been sidelined with a muscle fibre injury that will keep him out of action for up to another two weeks.

The list of 18 players is as follows: Ter Stegen, Cillessen; Semedo, Pique, Mascherano, Umtiti, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta, Sergi Roberto, Paulinho, Andre Gomes; Messi, Luis Suarez, Deulofeu, Denis Suarez and Aleix Vidal.

So once again Paco Alcacer cannot even make the squad much less the pitch, not seen since the Alaves game more than a month ago. Lucas Digne and Arda Turan have also not been seleceted, while Thomas Vermaelen joins the list of casualties with physical problems, in this case, gastroenteritis. Gerard Deulofeu returns after not being considered for the matches against Girona and Sporting CP.

So lineup wise the big question remains who lines up next to Messi and Suarez up front? Secondly, do any mids or CBs get rotated (playing Masch for PK or Umtiti, Paulihno or Roberto or even Denis for any of RBI)? Do we keep rotating RB or just acknowledge Semedo is the man there?

I will go with an outlier, Vidal at RW, and otherwise grand once:

    MAtS
    Semedo-Pique-Umtiti-Alba
    R-----------B----------I
    Vidal - Messi - Suarez

It is security related. People are getting beaten on the streets

Spanish authorities handled this very poorly. They should have let them vote then ignore the results

    edit: game suspended

Posts here indicate the match has been suspended, but the team's official app JUST sent out confirmed lineups. Probably a fair amount of confusion in the team offices right now.

Earlier in the week I was saying that I found it hard to believe the match would actually occur.

Ya, it is quite surprising that they scheduled this match at 16:15 on a day where a controversial voting was going to take place. What were they trying to achieve here?
