This game is a huge banana skin. We have a centre-back problem and Getafe are a solid side with food results against many better teams.

Probably one of the most important games of La Liga for Barca.

First goal may be crucial, maybe.

Pique included and Dembele declared fit to play! That means Coutinho and Dembele are in the same squad for the first time!

Glad to see Pique made the squad but since it is a Liga match at home and he suffered making sure we qualified for the Copa final, and did not practice, I think he is there as an emergency if Mina or Digne get injured or if they stink to high heaven together and leak a goal or more and we need to seal it up.

So I agree with Bronx Bull's prediction, though we could certainly see Semedo start for Roberto, Paulinho or even Denis or Vidal for Coutinho or even Iniesta, even Paco for Luis.

But yeah, think this is our lineup and we try to keep pressure off the weird CB pairing of newby and LB pairing at CB, by both scoring and dominating possession (and high pressing when we lose possession).

    Mats
    Sergi, Mina, Digne, Alba
    Coutinho Rakitic Busquets Iniesta
    Messi Suarez

Atletico won and are 6 pts away so no messing around. Getafe have the 3rd best defense in La Liga, the 2nd best in the Madrid metro area right below Atletico and right above .... Leganes :sneaky:

    So expect a tight game.

The first leg is when the legend of Paulinho was born where he scored the late winner.

Hope Coutinho plays in Iniesta’s role.

    Starters
    Mats
    Roberto Mina Digne Alba
    Raki Busi Couti
    Paco Leo Luis

So looks like Coutinho spells Iniesta and we actually play 3 forwards instead of 4 mids plus the CB experiment due to 2 injured and 1 suspended

Listening to Catalunya Radio and they interviewed a family member who confirmed that Mina was named after the 'Tom & Jerry' cartoon series and that they pronounce his name as Jerry with a hard 'j', not Yerry even though it's spelled that way. The commentators were used to calling him Yerry and are now having a field day saying both names when referring to him. ("Yerry or Jerry Mina starting today...") A bit humorous. At least, more humorous than anything Ray Hudson will say today.

Man, I hope we score a.ton of goals in this match, because we may need 'em, as three of our four defenders are second choice or worse and thus that back line looks scary to me.

Messi got elbowed by the defender then kneed by another one right in front of the ref and no penalty

What is the ref waiting for before giving a free kick? Broken leg?

Man, between the ref letting this be a knife-fight, our makeshift backline, and the energy Getafe is playing with, this is a bit scary.
