Goal USA! Axel Alejandre punches in the rebound. Kobe Hernandez-Foster with the first hit and it falls kindly for Alejandre. 2-2 64'— J.R. Eskilson (@JREskilson) May 2, 2019 GOAL Axel Alejandre! A corner spills to Kobe Hernandez-Foster outside the box and he drops the hammer, hits a rocket that pinballs off two defenders and falls to Alejandre for the equalizer. 2-2. pic.twitter.com/4mR3MuMkLZ— scuffed (@scuffedpod) May 2, 2019
Kobi played left CB. While that maybe where the team needs him, I don't think it's good for his long term development.
Yeah. I read they are playing him at CB for the U-17 but everyone projects him to switch to left back after that.
U17s weakest spot is CB. Kobe is arguably the best left back and best/2nd best CB on the team. The 2nd best LB is significantly better than the 3rd best CB. So they play Kobe at CB so they can get more talent on the field. Apparently there’s a really good CB in San Antonio’s? (I can’t remember whose academy he’s in but I want to say he’s in a USL Academy), but he isn’t eligible for the US, but should be receiving his citizenship soon. People are hoping that’ll allow Kobe to shift over to left back.
Araujo was left off the U20 roster. Too bad for the kid but we can and should use him. I was a little surprised by the decision.
Tonight is the night!Here is the starting XI in the #CU17 Final vs. 🇲🇽! >> https://t.co/nsYyku5Xiy pic.twitter.com/oJ3NspIZNZ— U.S. Soccer YNT (@USYNT) May 16, 2019
It was streamed in English on facebook. It required the facebook app on my phone. Apparently facebook and Concacaf have a relationship. This maybe a way to see Gold Cup matches.
This is a little late but I think the CB you’re talking about is Nico Carrera from FC Dallas. He’s Mexican and supposed to get citizenship next month
That’s the one! I highly recommend the “Scuffed” Podcast for information on any of the Youth national teams.
Scuffed is a great resource, and I recommend it for any American soccer fan, but also following the right people on Twitter and following the ynt forums on here will keep you pretty up to date.
I’m ok with losing Lletget to Gold Cup. I’m even ok with losing Antuna to Mexico. I’m not okay with losing Jona. That’s gonna hurt. I wonder if Lletget makes final 23? His form is not good. Maybe Berhalter can get something out of him in camp?
Berhalter has made plenty of....questionable.... decisions so far. Lletget did not look very good in his March call up. I don’t even think he should’ve been called up to this camp, but I guess with how many names are on the roster, it makes some sense. As it stands, I’d say there’s a decent chance he makes the 23 man roster just because he knows the “system” (as if it’s some advanced molecular physics equation that takes months to learn). I’ve always liked Lletget, though, so I’m hoping he does show well and play well in the GC. I agree, though. JdS is the one that is really going to hurt this team. There’s a big hole in the middle when he doesn’t play.
Let’s try this again Julian Araujo will fly out and join up with the #USYNT squad in Poland ahead of their WC opener against Ukraine on Friday. Looking forward to covering this one with @MauriceEdu on @FS1— keith costigan (@KeithCostigan) May 21, 2019 Late call up to the U20s? Not sure if someone got injured
Player selections, mostly. Sticking to sub par (bad) players like Omar Gonzalez and Corey Baird, as well as calling back in players who were exposed or didn’t look good against Ecuador and Chile (like Lletget), or aren’t in good form (Lletget, Fossey-who doesn’t even have a form since he’s coming off of injury, Lima, Morris, Gutman, Gyau, etc). Putting Adams at right back when he looked average as a right back in March. Riding Zardes every game so far. Playing Adams and Brooks against Ecuador and then sending them home before the match against Chile. Not calling in or adding players to the 40 man gold up roster most likely because he expects them to take part in the u23 camp.
One former Galaxy academy player on the field and one on the bench for the USMNT Under 20 first game in the U20 World Cup (Mendez and Llanez). Plus Araujo just arrived although he’s not on the bench for this game. So far that FC Dallas kid has been very good.
Watched some of U20 World Cup game today, US versus Nigeria, second group match. Mendez is quite the talent, can see why the Galaxy were PO'd to lose him to Freiberg for a song. I hope we maintained our rights to him if he comes back to MLS.
I caught the last 20 minutes. I was impressed with our play. Team showed a lot of composure on the ball.
