we are playing USA in a two match series. The first game is right now at 5:30pm. the second match is on Oct 22
Jeon Ga-eul joins the Australian club, Melbourne Victory. https://www.melbournevictory.com.au/news/south-korean-international-joins-w-league
She's moving to INAC Kobe next season. Would have preferred to see her in Europe or the US, but at least Japan will be a bit more of a challenge. She's outgrown WK-League. This video shows why she needs a greater challenge. In like 85-90% of the touches in this video, she's coughing up possession. Needs to see this kind of pace and physicality every week to speed up her decision making and reactions. She'll never fare well against big players as she's so tiny, but she needs to solve pressure at a higher level now. Same thing happened against the USA, speed of the US overwhelmed her. She adjuted a bit in match two, but it will take longer.
Also, in case anyone missed it, Korea got an awful draw for the Asian Cup. Ended up with Australia, Japan and Vietnam. The other group is a cupcake: China, Jordan, Thailand and Philippines. Worst case, Korea should still qualify for the World Cup if they finish 3rd as the other group 3rd place finisher should be an easy win for Korea, but should have been a lot easier.

Can someone catch me up? Isn't the Algarve Cup reserved for the top womens teams in the world? We had been participating in the inferior Cyprus Cup to this point, if i am recalling correctly.
Cho So-hyun has joined the Norwegian club, Avaldsnes IL. https://www.h-avis.no/sport/fotball...slagskaptein-klar-for-avaldsnes/s/5-62-560162 https://hnytt.no/2018/02/07/sor-koreanske-landslagskapteinen-spille-avaldsnes/
Correct, although there were no specific details regarding the participation other than that our Women's NT were invited to the Algarve Cup for the first time.
interesting....the attendee list is almost exactly the same as 2017 -- us replacing Spain is the only difference. Spain is playing in the Cyprus Cup instead. I can't seem to find the reason for the swap.
My only guess is that Spain did poorly in the last edition of the Women's World Cup in Canada 2015 (Group stage exit), whilst our Women's NT made the first ever Round of 16 finish.
Algarve Cup is not quite the same stature of tournament that it was since the US left it two years ago and started their own tournament with France, England and Germany. That took the top teams in the world out of it.
So essentially, the 4 cool kids went out and formed their own exclusive club and so now there are 3 tiers of these annual women's friendly tournaments happening at roughly the same time. I guess it's very relieving to know Korea got into the second tier. Can't help but feel they are going to be outclassed at the Algarve Cup, though. While they performed well at Cyprus last year, I feel like they've had their hands full in past editions.
