Hey, they did it. Ji So-yun scored in stoppage time to top off a 10-0 win. Hat trick from Lee Geummin plus goals from Kang Yumi, Lee Min-a, Lee Eun-mi, Yoo Young-a, Lee So-dam and a brace from Ji So-yun.

I did wonder about that too. This photo of the stands, though, from the India Football Federation, shows quite a few people there. God knows who they all were. It was, as you say, a rainy and cold Wednesday evening. (Maybe they were there to see the half-time cheerleading show..? ..joke) The reports on some of the Indian sites did say that most of them left before the end.

According to this South Korean source the attendance at the start of match was even 5000 (they stood up politely during the South Korean national anthem), the article also answers who they cheered for (India). Half of them left before the end of the match probably disappointed that South Korea had already a better result at 69 minute than North Korea had achieved in their match against India.

Tomorrow will be huge pressure for women in both teams, a loss would mean exclusion from top level international football until 2020 Olympics. It seems like a draw would suit South Korea after already having +2 GD compared to NK from the match against India and North Korea only winning Hong Kong by 5 goals (SK won Hong Kong 14-0 a couple of months ago). Interesting factor is how the North Korean team will react to big crowd because it is completely new thing to them. Whereas NK men team is used to play in front of home crowd (and draw the positive influence from it) because of home-away system used instead of mini tournaments I am quite sure North Korean women (at least current team) have never played a match of this importance in Pyongyang.

Seems the game is not televised (and I guess no-one is tweeting from the stadium.. ). All we have is the starting XI so far. It should be midway through the first half by now, but I can't find any indication of a score.

KOR11: KIM JUNGMI, LEE EUNMI, SHIN DAMYEONG, LIM SEONJOO, JANG SELGI, CHO SOHYUN(C), LEE MINA, JI SOYUN, LEE GEUMMIN, KANG YUMI, YOO YOUNGA

Still 0-0 as far as I can tell.

Apparently (?) the South Korean keeper (Kim Jung-mi) saved a penalty.

I can't read the hangul, so not sure.. :coffee:

would be shocking if they turned it around at their turf. a tie is still enough to give korea a chance to qualify though

Silver ball from WWC U17 strikes again! She's one talented player worth to keep an eye on.

It's a shame that the North won't stream matches. Tajikistan and Vietnam are streaming matches in their groups.

Suspect this was a pretty cagey match with both teams playing not to lose. South Korea has to put at least 4 (preferably a lot more) past Hong Kong, then it becomes all about who puts more past Uzbekistan.

kinda dumb how there are two top teams from this group. And their is a group with Jordan and Philippines. What happened to seeding based on ranking and past competition.
