I wanted to know if anybody knew time the game would be played for Eastern US. Also, I was wondering if any of the Europe players will be coming back for this game as well as the Angola game on March 1st. Thanks!
Feb 22nd 4:00 AM PT No Euro-based players for this match. They will however be available for the game against Angola.
Lucky for the Syrians that our European-based players wont be there... A perfect opportunity for them to get a home win.
Well the consistancy with our team against weaker teams really worries me. I bet we will win against Mexico and then Lose against Syria. Well lets hope out team does not f**K up.
True. And I actually give Syria some respect. I don't think they'll be pushovers like some of the other qualifying teams. I'm sure Taiwan will place last in our group. Even though Korea and Iran are favorites, I feel that Syria will pose problems for either one of these teams. Here are a list of their recent results. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Syria v Saudi - 1-1 tie (AWAY) Syria v Palestine - 3-0 win (HOME) Syria v Bahrain - 1-1 tie (AWAY) Syrai v Iraq - 2-2 lose (AWAY) They lost on penalties in this game to the eventually champs, Iraq, of the West Asian Games.
well, Korea lost to UAE earlier, so no real shock if we were to lose against Syria... But then as the team has just undergone several weeks of training and also has quite a few friendlies under the belt, we should do quite well, I think.
http://news.media.daum.net/snews/sports/soccer/200602/19/yonhap/v11749699.html the KNT is more worried about the jet-lag for now. 10-hour gap. Not too different from the New York - Seoul (13hr) gap.
lol, Thats Dick in our airport. Our airport is sooooo messed up. Btw there is a 5 hour bus ride from the Airport to the city where the match is going to be played. I wonder why they didnt land in Aleppo airport?
It was said that as soon as Korea walked on to the pitch to train they were welcomed very warmly(really weird, most football fans in Syria are igorant working class who would just curse them). Despite that Korea didnt want any spectators. It was also said, that Korea didnt train very hard because there was Syrian officials in the Stadium.
How big a crowd do you think will be on hand for the match, syrianfootballer? Hope we don't play in one of those empty stadiums you see so often in the international tournaments in the UAE
Probably, Korea didn't train that hard because they had to recuperate from 20hr flight from LA to Aleppo following tightly scheduled friendly matches in the US. I'm sure they'll train more tomorrow.
Kim Nam Il is to sit this match out due to left ankle injury that he incurred while training that day. Probably twisted his ankle, but it's ok I believe as Kim Jung Woo is back from Japan. But it's a pity that Dick can't keep the momentum of trying the double branch system of Lee Ho - Kim Nam Il.
thanx for the pics syrianfootballer23. hope its a good match and a win, since an away win may come in handy later on.
Update on today's training. KNI is ok for this match as the swelling of his ankle is down, but on the other hand Chung Kyung Ho is out with a thigh injury, and he will definitely sit this one out. Chance to see PCY
