This is one really really exciting signing - real tangible potential and can (pun not intended) also help right now.

    Big ********er too.

I believe the kid's versatility, quality, pace, and desire to improve will be a HUGE addition. I am not sure how much he plays at CDM right away, but his presence will be felt immediately.

With Gerrard's age & the amount of fixtures we have, I'm sure he'll get plenty of game time. He'll get the home games against the EPL bottom feeders, as well as early round cup games, and if we get a pot 4 minnow in the CL, I'm sure he'll get game time there too. We need Gerrard fresh for a league title push again. as well as for whatever giants we get from Pots 1 & 2.

And the question still exists as to what kind of formation BR will utilize. If he goes with Lucas AND Gerrard, there is more room for rotation. Much is left to be decided yet.

Yeah. Alot will probably rest on whether we get a world class forward (Sanchez or Shaqiri) to fill the Suarez role up top. If we do, then we can play similar to how we did last year, and look to win high scoring games as oppose to the Mourinho park the bus and win 1-0 in the second half way.

BR is tactically flexible but I can unequivocally say that we will NEVER see that mentality over the course of a full season from him.

I think we'll see Gerrard deep like last year, with Can and Henderson flanking him quite a bit this year.

Sami Hyypia and Didi Hamann have both raved about Can, and he's arguably the top prospect from Germany at his age group. From what I can tell, he likes himself a yellow card, which is an attribute I'm not terribly opposed to. Mostly for depth this season but he'll be learning from Stevie, so hopefully we can find him some game time and watch him blossom into a midfield beast.

    Karsilama, Emre. Or something. ;)

Agreed here. Lucas for example has shown over the years that he's capable of playing a hard game until he gets carded, then is still capable of playing a smarter and effective game on a yellow without any real risk of getting a second one. Hopefully the same is true of Can.

Everyone has been pronouncing Emre Can's name wrong.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...as-been-pronouncing-Emre-Cans-name-wrong.html

"The site says his first name - an incredibly popular moniker in Turkey that means 'close friend or older brother' - sounds much the same as it's spelt: 'Ehm-reh'.

But the surname 'Can' - meaning 'spirit, heart and life' - is actually pronounced very differently. The 'C' in Turkish is spoken like an English 'J', as in 'Junk' - which means 'Can' is actually pronounced 'Jun'.

So, there you have it - "Ehm-reh Jun" is how you say his name."
