Even with the midweek USOC game, I can't see them resting starters for this one. They've been on a poor run of form recently and it's a home game against an in-conference rival near the top of the table. They'll come out as full strength as possible. I like our chances, especially with Roger back and Nemeth coming in as a possible CF. Nemeth for 60, Rubio for 30?
They don't really have the depth to put out much less than full strength honestly. The interesting wrinkle will be Christian Ramirez, who I believe is cup tied to Minnesota (too lazy to go confirm).
FYI LAFC v Houston USOC tonight. I won't spoil results here until tomorrow since I can't seem to do the result tags any more.
Rofl. Buzz goes out of his way to not spoil the result for anyone and less than an hour later someone else comes in and spoils it.
Feilhaber went 54 minutes, Zimmerman 58, and Nguyen 70; other than than all their starters went 120. Also, being down 3-1 in the 77th minute, you have to think those guys expended a ton of energy just to bring the game back to A.E.T. And Blessing missed the game-losing PK.
Except I didn’t say who won, only that it was going to penalties. Unless you didn’t want to hear that it was tied after regulation. [emoji6]
Tangent: sitcoms would be 1000% better if they didn't have laugh tracks. Okay, go back to soccer, people.
Extra-tangent: Big Bang Theory would be 1000% better if it were actually funny. Okay, now get back to soccer.
I'm not really sure exactly what can be spoiled in an SKC thread when the topic is LAFC V Houston? Was this even televised (beyond Youtube)? Given the fact that I am wildly excited by the re-addition of Nemeth and have tossed aside all negative thoughts, I think it's safe to say that it wouldn't matter if LAFC was fully rested and ready. We're going to rip them them shreds. It's going to be brutal. Hat tricks galore. The only real question remaining is whether or not we've got enough time left this season to nab the Supporters Shield or if we just have to settle for MLS Cup. I may be a tad too optimistic.
Of all the US sitcoms, none gets more love in Germany. they love the Big Bang Theory. It's on all the time (dubbed, of course). BTW, anyone else getting "Vilnius: The G-Spot of Europe" as the main ad on their BS page?
Salloi Rubio Gerso Gutierrez Illie Espinoza Sinovic Besler Opara Zusi Bummer that Nemeth is not starting but he is on the bench. Good to see Johnny on the bench as well.
Unfortunately I think this means that Rubio will end up trying too hard, since he's feeling the pressure that Nemeth's arrival brings, and he'll tense up and be ineffective. I hope he proves me wrong. Would LOVE to see supersub Rubio's efficiency work out as a starter also.
He hasn't scored in his last 8 starts across all competitions, the way KC plays he just doesn't seem to fit as a starter.
And yet he comes up with a great steal, plays a nifty little dribble to himself to make Nguyen fall over, and then a pretty seeing-eye pass through to Gerso for the assist. Seems he doesn't want to automatically cede CF to Nemeth... Gerso is doing really well also.
Halftime, and zero complaints from me. Everyone is playing with a lot of energy and skill. Gutierrez is still tentative and has yet to regain his silky touch but that's to be expected. Rubio and Gerso in particular are impressing, which pleases me because I've criticized both of them plenty this year. Both are playing like they don't want to give up their spots.
That was freaking fantastic. Great, great win, no two ways about it. Nemeth gets on the field. Russell gets some minutes. No injuries (Gutierrez signaled for a sub but walked off normally so he looks to be fine.) Clean sheet. Three points against a top conference rival. Only 3 points behind FCD now in the West. It wasn't perfect, of course, but to get a win on the road - to deal LAFC their first ever loss at home - there is just nothing to complain about tonight. If everyone can continue to get healthy and stay healthy, that will be the key to finally doing something positive in the playoffs for the first time in 5 years.

Nate Bukaty, the crossbar and the goal posts are not in the goal so they can't save a goal. Callum Williams, come back.
