Disagree. Aside from Milan's dismantling of Barca in 1994, Capello seriously underachieved in Europe throughout his managerial career. We seriously under performed in Europe, given the talent of that squad. But the only way we could have actually won would be if we had had a manager who was better able to handle knockout competitions, which was a serious weakness in Capello's managerial repertoire.
Capello had his players burned out by late March and April. He rotated little and had good players rotting on the bench. Moggi pretty much took care of Capello's wish list and the team always came up short in the CL. The squad was getting old under him.
Capello is not really that good of a manager. He is way too serious, and really pushes his players a little over the top. I always thought of Capello more like a business man. He sometimes treats the players like machines, which is why we didn't do so well in Europe under him. If Lippi stayed as our coach however, we might have won a lot more UCL's.
Well, Lippi may be the best coach of his generation. Personally, I think he is up there with Rinus Michels as one of the greats of all time. Look at his coaching tree and he has won everywhere he has been. That doesn't mean Capello's teams were junk. Italy won the WC with the bulk of the team coming from that squad. I agree though that if Lippi had been in charge we would have done better in Europe, but then the Azzurri wouldn't have won the WC.
Yup great point. Lippi is one of the best coaches in his generation. Although I also look at Jupp Heynckes very highly as well. I agree we probably wouldn't have won the WC if Lippi wasn't in charge. Yes Capello had some great players, and one of the best teams on paper actually. But if you remember many of those players in the WC were underperforming for their clubs under Capello the season before the 2006 world cup. Thats one of the main reasons why we definitely were not strong favorites coming into the tournament.
Serie A Matchday 33:10 matches 48 goals 1 clean sheet kept pic.twitter.com/ha5O4DpMxJ— Serie A News (@TransfersCalcio) April 24, 2017 How the scudetto is won!
There is a five day rest period before the next CL match. That is a pretty big gap. It looks like Allegri will field a strong line up to win the match and essentially win the league. It sets up the opportunity to rest players vs Torino given that it comes 3 days before the home leg vs Monaco.
Hopefully Rugani plays... its really time to evaluate him properly. It is very frustrating to watch him rot on the bench when he does so well on the field... Benatia needs to ******** off.. why cant he get injured.
Rugani is not playing due to a knock he picked up. He did not make the trip. No need to rest players. Monaco did that for the French Cup and got humiliated by PSG 5:0. It sends a bad message. Allegri has been rotating and players want to play. If an injury is going to happen, it will happen whether in a game or training.
Rugani has been dealing with a slight injury. If Rugani lasts as long as Barzagli will, we will have 10-13 years worth of games in which to evaluate him.
firefox browser does not display images embedded on this website for some reason which is why I did not see the squad list. it just says
#Juventus XI: Buffon; Dani Alves, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic; Cuadrado, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain. #AtalantaJuve— JuventusFC 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@juventusfcen) April 28, 2017
Then make yourself a more knowledgeable fan. Football Italia translates articles from Italian mediums. The official Juve site keeps tifosi up to date. People lose credibility here when they question roster decisions for players who are not on the roster.
For the most part, Atalanta is not pressing high but in the middle third and clogging up the penalty area. They look to counter when they can after sucking us in. Cuadrado shows that he is no Mandzukic.
Juve having issues in the back. Conti scores right on half time for Atalanta to take the lead. 1-0 The kid wants to join Juve, he didn't celebrate his goal.
Everyone goes into the locker room pissed off. Let's see if we get the right reaction come second half.
Spicoli did head the ball. He did not celebrate but if you read his lips, he clearly said "That was my skull! I'm so wasted!"
