New Year, not a new season but start of the second part (il ritorno). The andata finale was squeezed into the month of December, so the team is on its winter break. Only two league matches at the end of the month but there is also a Coppa Italia round in Bologna and the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia prior to the resumption of the league. Let's get off to a good start like we did in August as we stay afar from the rest of the field in Serie A. Coppa Italia 12 Jan - at Bologna Supercoppa Italiana 16 Jan - Milan Serie A 20 Jan - Chievo 27 Jan - at Lazio
Higuain has a "fever' and is expected to miss todays game. BTW, if you're in the US, the game is on ESPN2 at 12:30pm
Decent first half, they had a few chances, but they've also given Milan a few chances. You can tell that they want to win, but they don't want to do anything to risk themselves while doing so.
Handball on Zapata, no pk. We've seen that given in other instances, hmm, like against Juve against Sampdoria.
After VAR, the ref gives Kessie a red card. It's a worthy red card. Ever since Ronaldo scored, Juve have been in control.
Bernardeschi on, Bentancur off. Bentancur has been limping a bit since the foul, might be a muscular issue.
we play very boring football....our counters are non-existent as usual and we cant take advantage of set pieces
We had a couple in the last 10 mins or so but screwed them up. I don't get why we almost always pull it back when we have a break. Go for it and see what happens. GKs make mistakes. So do defenders. Put them under pressure and who knows what will happen. Also, are we ever going to score a deadball goal this season?
Frankly, I don't think this match should've even be held. Peelan "qualified" for the Super Coppa by losing the Coppa Italia against the same team 4-0. That kind of pathetic display should never qualify any team to "compete" for a trophy, no matter how minuscule that trophy might be.
This is the silverware I could care less about. It is just a bloated friendly. At least it puts the players in a good momentum as we start the second half of the season.
