Any thoughts on night 1? I missed it, but I heard that Booker and Warren were solid with De Blasio being an interesting wildcard. I hear Beto was the biggest embarrassment of the night.

Can't wait for the real headliner tomorrow.

I won't watch any of them because they don't inform my vote. Whomever wins gets my vote.

More surprised that we beat Panama.

There are going to be a million of these things. Why would I watch a debate a year before the Democratic convention?

I did not watch it, so I understand.

538 does claim that while debates during the general election tend to be statistically useless (few people change their minds).

Debates during primaries do tend to show more changes in peoples opinions, but the bigger changes are in earlier debates.

I guess that it makes sense since most people know little about the candidates, but as the time goes on, people make up their minds and are less willing to change.

Now, most of us here in big soccer made up our minds long ago, so yes it is useless for most of us to watch them.

These debates matter for those of us supporting candidates polling around 1-2%. Gotta build the energy now. Can't afford to just let things play out on their own. If I don't get engaged now, we'll just end up with Biden or something. There is a battle for the soul of the party right now, and it looks like the establishment is determined to drive this country off a cliff.

So Trump won that battle over the establishment, I guess that did not drive the country off a cliff?

Actually, when I was looking at the poll numbers going back to 2008 trying to predict the nominee, the debates do make a difference. It appears that they are where a candidate either improves their position or make a name coming form the back.

I'm talking about tactics and strategy, not ideology. Political success can be used for good or bad.

Did I see that right? They all raised their hands for free healthcare for undocumented immigrants? "Bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it work out for them."

Buttigieg, Harris have done well so far.

Bernie sounds like a broken record and Joe’s delivery has been painful to watch.

The guy from California is so embarrasing I think he might be a Republican plant.

Pete has done okay at best. Harris though has been outperformed by Senator Gillebrand both in substance and demeanor.

Bernie is going to Bernie. Joe shockingly has held his own and done well.

Nope, not a Republican plant just another new school Democrat goof.

How the hell is the Williamson lady in a nationally televised presidential debate?

Yang has lacked assertiveness in being heard which is a bummer. Mrs. Williamson strikes me as a bit odd but a smart person none the less.
