I also want to believe this, the guy even gave up going to the olympics to do preseason with Barcelona back in 2012, I don't think he'll give up to Europe anytime soon and Villarreal won't let him go for free neither.
Jona has started in 3 of those... He keeps making history with Villarreal... He should retire there if possible... He can join MMLS when he's 40....

You have to wonder what would've happened if Vasco Aguirre had put Jona in his 23-man squad, how different his career might've been. [emoji17]
Jona is almost as sad as Memo is that regard. He finally got his due in the GC 15' where he rocked, he so did, but afterwards he was snubbed for a good chunk of time and it wasnt until recently Osorio got him back on the radar which is so strange to me I just don't get it. Like if there was a better midfielder in MEX than him.
It's not really strange at all. Jona played as the sole defensive midfielder in a three man midfield with a three man defense behind him and while he was one of Mexico's best players (IMO, the best of that tournament for Mexico), there were some notable tactical weaknesses with him as the only defensive midfielder on the field. The reason why he didn't remain a starter was most likely the fact that Herrera got canned and Osorio came in with a different idea of what he wanted out of that position. Hard to say the team has not improved defensively under Osorio with the 7-0 vs Chile being the obvious exception. His future is as an interior in a 4-3-3, a role he will alternate with Herrera for the short term future with Orbelin Pineda also knocking at the door.

There's little that he could do against a team like Farca... He did his job. Farca are just too powerful...
