They were drawn in the a CL group that looked an EL group, and then got the easiest opponent possible in the knock out stages. Then they got crushed by Liverpool, just like the year before. On the domestic league, they haven't enjoyed much success either. Explaining Porto's victories by HH's presence, and the lack of success by his absence sounds a bit like provincial thinking to me. The team doesn't revolve around the "Mexican HH". In fact, Porto has been suffereing from internal turnoil between the coach and some players. I am today's loss has a lot more to do with that than the fact that "cara de nopal HH" wasn't on the roster.
How much did Atletico pay in transfer fees to have him, though? Would they have spent 50m€ for him? Let's hope he does well, but we'll see how many times he'll start this season.

I know for sure Porto is going to make a few more signings CM, RB for sure. Mascherin has been a massive signing, another player that is doing Liga MX justice. Zé Luís looks a good player. The last time Porto failed to qualify for the group stages of the champions league they won the Europa league 2011
Sergio Oliveria looks like he’s injured for a while and I don’t really rate him too highly Given how Mexican league players have done well at the club I wouldn’t be surprised if they go in for another bid

Erick Aguirre - Pachuca Gerardo Arteaga - Santos Laguna Jorge Sanchez - America All young but experienced options. Sanchez has tons of European potential imo because of his physical attributes. Aguirre is the perfect squad player imo. Won't amaze you every moment but always does a great steady job. Arteaga has amazing flashes but also major screw ups imo. Jose Abella - Santos Laguna Chaka Rodriguez - Tigres Both in their primes, tons of experience and championship pedigree. Honestly Chaka reminds me of Maxi Pereira type player. Hopefully Porto keeps scouting in Mexico and picks one of these players up.
Sanchez reminds me a bit of Stefan Medina in the sense that he’s a versatile defensive player. In a wingback role I don’t like because on attack he looks awkward, but defensively he’s a gifted dude.
Didn't Porto's junior team win the Youth CL last season? Why don't they just promote one their prospects rather than spending ?
