Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Honda appears in "Holland Sport" sports television program http://player.omroep.nl/?aflid=9115657
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Thanks! I certainly will. I know there are only two Japanese players in the US, and neither is international quality (yet?), but it's fun to follow them.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] the Charleston Battery (USL Divsion 1, Division 2 in the US) just signed Tsuyoshi Yoshitake http://www.charlestonbattery.com/news.asp?y=2009&page=1&id=442 I watched him while he was here on trial and seems to be fast on the wings with a pretty good cross and technical abilities. here is all the Front office has released about him any more info you could pass on about him would be appreciated.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Darn, I wish they would show more USL soccer on US TV. I'd love to see more of the Battery.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] well as an answer to your wish this press release came out yesterday http://www.uslsoccer.com/home/316047.html all USL D1 games, except the friday night FSC ones, will be available on-line, live and on demand for FREE! Also feel free to stop by our forum to add your two cents about Yoshi https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=1147
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Code: MVV – VVV-Venlo 2-0 42. Thiebaut 1-0, 83. Thiebaut 2-0. Referee: Vink. Attendance: 8608. Yellow: Gunter Thiebaut, Robert van Boxel (both MVV), Ferry de Regt (VVV-Venlo). Honda got the first chance for VVV, but it went over via the leg of a defender. VVV came close in the second half on several occasions, but MVV's keeper did great to keep a clean sheet. VVV managed a spectacular comeback with Honda scoring the equalizer when the two clubs met earlier in the season. Not this time, a late second goal finished VVV off. RKC managed to win, so VVV now has a 6 point lead. The two clubs play eachother next week in in Venlo.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Thanks for the report on Honda's match! Is he considered a key player for VVV? Do you think he'll move to another club next season?
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] He is their captain and star player at the moment, altough Calabro is the top scorer. Honda has 2 seasons left on his contract after this one. Some big clubs have shown interest, but VVV's chairman reportedly set a rather steep asking price of €10m. He seems to like Venlo and its surroundings though. Also, one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe is only 30 minutes away, just over the border in Germany. I can't imagine him staying if VVV remain in the Eerste Divisie next season, but if they manage to win promotion who knows what he will decide to do.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] MLS Coverage: Week 2 was a little interesting, as the league played on a WC Qualifying day so needless to say a lot of big players were missing, allowing peripheral players to shine. Two new players making their league debuts scored in a 2-1 Chivas USA victory away at FC Dallas. Workhorse Paulo Nagamura went the distance for Chivas, and did a good job marking and disrupting the Dallas midfielder Dax McCarty, so much so he seemed to tire and had to be replaced in the second half. For Colorado Rapids and Left Back Kosuke Kimura, things were better than last week with a 2-1 home victory against KC Wizards. Kimura went the distance and held up solidly during the game, although he picked up a yellow card for a late tackle on Wizards forward and former Argentine international Claudio Lopez.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] http://www.datasport.it/leggi.aspx?id=5590562 Morimoto is fit for the weekend. 3 weeks off. I hope he starts where he left off again in form.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Tonight Honda with VVV faces the second placed club RKC and if RKC manages to beat VVV things are getting very uncomfortable for VVV as the gap than reduces to only 3 points.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] I've never really watched the two japanese players (Paulo Nagamura & Kosuke Kimura) play in the MLS. Objectively speaking, are they good enough to play in the J-League if given the opportunity?
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] S.Nakamura - 70 minutes substituted for Mizuno Mizuno - 20 minutes: Nearly scored a free kick T.Soma - Full Game T.Morimoto - 20 minutes: apparently very lively when he came on. Inamoto: put on in injury time Matsui: wasn't there for game against Marseille (injury i think) Hasebe: Out for 3 weeks from Bahrain game injury.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Okubo played the last 4 minutes at Wolfsburg's stunning 5:1 victory against Bayern
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Bielefeld interested in Naoya Kikuchi. Frank Eulberg (Bielefeld assistant coach) visited the match Jena vs Dynamo Dresden to watch Kikuchi. http://www.tlz.de/tlz/tlz.sport.vol...Sport®ion=National&auftritt=TLZ&dbserver=1
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Tulio linked to Italian clubs Including Juventus, Milan, Atalanta. Also Hoffenheim. As far as I know, most of Milan's good CB's are close to retirement I think.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] He'd be a better fit in Italy. He is just too slow for Bundesliga and Premier League.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Hiroyuki Ishida trialing with Newcastle Jets? one of the fox sports commentators mentioned this during tuesday's Nagoya Grampus vs Newcatle Jets game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroyuki_Ishida
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] This article says his mother is of Italian descent and therefore he can obtain an EU passport soon.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Born in São Paulo, Brazil to a Japanese-Brazilian father and Italian-Brazilian mother, Tulio moved to Japan at age 15 to complete his high school studies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Tulio_Tanaka
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] notice the question mark after the headline: Japanese Tulio soon in Italy? journalism 101 - "?" after the headline means the writer himself doesn't take the story very seriously.
