About time really. He obviously belongs to a culture where going to university is necessary to get anywhere in life, but purely from football's point of view, it's been such a p1ss take that he was trying to "make it big" in football while going to university.

Many in europe/south america dedicate themselves to football from early/mid teens, and even then many fail to get anywhere in the professional world.

    Hidetoshi Nakata played well yesterday.
He got 7 from skysports rating.

Takahara missed a great chance to increase the lead for Hamburg last Wednesday.

Then he better put himself into a mental frame where once he is benched, he works harder to get a place in the starting eleven.

He won't, he is highly disliked there, and I think it is reciprocal.
But I doubt he will go back to Bolton.

Problem with Hide is, he needs the whole upper half of the team to play as he wants, as it used to happen in Bellmare and Perugia.

BUt today, which club wants to go ahead and build a team around Nakata?

I honestly it would be time for him to come home, and to help the J-League to grow. Imho, he, Yanagisawa and Inamoto have done their time in Europe, now I see them only playing minor roles, while they can still give A LOT to Japanese soccer.

I agree, English football just isn't really for Japanese players and their style and tempo, just doesn't really suite them.

I'm surprised no Japanese midfielders come to the Bundesliga. The Bundesliga is perfect for a technical midfielder like Nakamura or Ono or Nakata.

Well I'll be DARNED! Hidetoshi Nakata might be linked toward my club! :)

Basically he says he's interested in moving to Germany, he's never been. He says Berlin is beautiful and that he would pay a visit to the club there (Hertha probably).

I would welcome him with open arms. :D Especially if we sell Bastuerk/Marcelinho. :D

Re: Japanese Abroad 2005-2006 (part II)

Without meaning to be offensive, I believe the top-League (England, Italy, Spain, Germany) are not best stage for Japanese players.

So, far the best experiences come from France, Scotland and Holland. Such level is -I believe- the perfect dimension for this generation of players.

Just look at the way Ono was leading the team, yelling at his team-mates, changing the pace of the game against Bulgaria... he has learnt that at Feyenord, ON THE FIELD... You don't learn that sitting of the bench of Fiorentina, let alone West Bromwich Albion...
