Tomorrow the roster will be announced.
Zico said there will be no surprises, and that the members will have proven themselves and contributed to the team during his 4 years.

My biggest fear is Zico leaving out Matsui. Matsui did well his last game for Japan and proved himself in France, but he hasn't been called up enough to have proven himself on the NT. If Zico calls up 8 defenders again, that would leave 7 spots for midfielders, and they are pretty much solidified.

    with Matsui
    ---Kawaguchi, Narazaki, Doi
---Miyamoto, Nakazawa, Tsuboi, Kaji, Santos, Komano, Tanaka
---Nakata, Nakamura, Ono, Ogasawara, Inamoto, Matsui, Fukunishi, Endoh
    ---Takahara, Yanagisawa, Kubo, Oguro, :mad:Tamada

    without Matsui
    ---Kawaguchi, Narazaki, Doi
---Miyamoto, Nakazawa, Tsuboi, Kaji, Santos, Komano, Tanaka, Moniwa
---Nakata, Nakamura, Ono, Ogasawara, Inamoto, Fukunishi, Endoh
    ---Takahara, Yanagisawa, Kubo, Oguro, :mad:Tamada

yes, I agree. I'm not saying that is the squad for sure, but its the squad of players Zico always prefers.
If it is the squad though, he is a hypocrite, because he said earlier that it matters how they do in their leagues before the World Cup. And it is common sense to take guys that are in form, not guys that scored their last goals about 2 years ago.

Well as unpredictable as Zico i can't see Matsui being left out, he knows full well what he's capable of. Also i have a feeling that Tamada won't be going to the world cup, i think Zico gave him chances against ecuador and in the kirin cup and he dissapointed, I personally think Suzuki or Hirayama will be called up, or it seems he may turn to Maki on the advice from Wasinghton

hope you are right. they should have a FW with height, and one that can actually do a post play (even if he uses his head when the ball is at his knees).

Thats why i like Suzuki, sure he doesn't score but at least he can challenge for a header unlike certain FW's, he can get into a physicall battle with the defenders and always fights for the team, But as far as a physical player goes i'd rather have Hirayama, but theres a chance none will be called up

In the last few days Zico has said something about picking players who have done something for the NT (and I assume that's the A team) regardless of the Kirin cup, I reckon Hirayama is unlikely because of that.

Personally it'd be interesting to see Maki getting picked as an element of unknown, but again I guess Zico would pick from the 'usual' bunch.

    ********

Come on, the worst manager in the world prefered Tamada to the top assister in France League (Matsui) as we anticipated.
    What a joke.

Both players have always lacked finishing skills, but needless to say, Matsui's dribble, passing and crossing abilities are FAR better than Tamada.

Matsui is the best player in this season's Japanese abroad.

And Hirayama should have been called up though I didn't expect Zico to select him.

    Go to hell Zico.
