Re: Burn a J. League Mascot

Would someone vote 1 star on this thread, please. My browser is giving me a weird sign saying there is two votes averaging 7 stars. Adding one star will make it to 3 votes with 5 average, so it will properly show the stars correctly.

Note: if you already voted, change it to the lowest value. This will reduce the number of total stars. i.e. if you have voted 5 in the past, voting 1 will reduce the average.

    ------edit------
    Now its fixed... thanks.

    Good lord!

I usually dont like this thread much, because personally Ive always liked mascots . OK its true that there are some very odd ones, here and there, but generally speaking I think they have a useful place in the grand scheme of things.

. . . . or at least that was how I felt until Cerezo Osaka decided to adopt a middle-aged lady from New Jersey as their new mascot.

Yeah, I still don't understand why Cerezo adopt her. Maybe she looks appealing to the older spectators, the parents or grandparents :p

Is she replacing Roby? I noticed her at the Shonan game last year conducting some pop-star around but I wasn't expecting her to become the main mascot.

Of course not, she's Robi's mother. Actually it was a long time ago Cerezo adopted her, I guess around 5 years ago CMIIW.

She didnt exist as of last August, at least in the eyes of the team website.
When Vortis adopted their Tanuki Twins I did research and was planning to write an article, about the family development of mascots, and neither Osaka team had a female mascot at that time. So whenever "Robinha" was created, it was later than August 09.

There are a number of newcomers this year, and it might make a good article to write about the growing families. I know that "Belle" of bellmare is new this year too, and I could be wrong but I think the Grampako kids also did not exist in March of last year. Tochigi is now the only J.League team that has no mascot at all. . . . .

That's interesting. The game I saw her at was in September 09, but she kept a low-profile by sticking with the half-time popstar and escorting her to and from the pitch, and she didn't reappear for a crowd visit at the end (Roby came over for a wave though). I guess the feedback was positive so they made her a fulltime mascot. Her and her charge were quite a sight though in bright pink and ostentatious jewellery. I'll try to remember to dig out a photo when I get home ...

Re: Burn a J. League Mascot

Just read her full name at the website
"Elegante Esplendida Madama Robina de Cerezo"
    ...

for me, she just looks like your average Osaka no baba
    ^^;;

Tochigi should come up with a killer Gyoza or
a mixture between Ehime's Orle kun (Best mascot EVER!)
    and a Strawberry...
or they should stick with the "Tamamo no mae" Legend
and addopt a nine tailed fox... as seen on the huge
flag the supporters always wave ..

I get the fetish du jour with things Brazilian in J-League, but okay, this is overkill.

She looks as one of those ugly women you can see in the incest movies late at night...

Is Gamba Boy her illegitimate son...??:eek::eek:

Dear, I am glad we're now in a new page with this thread and I don't have to see it...

I thought Grampus Kun was dreadful, look the level we sunk to!

Does Gifu also have no mascot too? Or they already adopted one?

I suppose its not a clear "yes" or "no" answer.

Their mascot is a flower - the one that appears in the logo mark. Since most mascots tend to be animate objects (apart from "Monte", who is supposed to be a mountain), I guess you could argue that they do not. But officially, the flower is their symbol and to me, that seems pretty close to the same thing.

Grampus-kun is a classic. The only downside is that they won't let us eat him.

Goru, you seem to have an abundance of knowledge on late-night incest videos. Anything you wanna tell us? :D

One thing I noticed in the back of the Soccer Digest meikan - Grampus-kun is the only naked mascot in J League.

Geez, I might have a fetish for incest videos, but naked mascots is rather bad too, uh? :)
