What an utterly awful selection. Also, the choice of the 3-5-2 with a completely different 11 is a depressing reminder that it has everything to do with Conte's personal preferences and nothing to do with the players at his disposal.

I honestly thought that Conte was a good coach...

now i know why cerci is riding the bench with his club team. you're not gonna beat most goalkeepers on a angle when he has the corner post covered. thats one of the first things they teach goalkeepers.

It's a friendly right in the heart of the league season. The next qualifier is in 4 months. What did you want him to do, field a grade A team ???

......who will come on later in the match. This game obviously is testing waters for the younger players.

Cerci and bertolacci might be the best for Italy on the pitch. Albania already hit a crossbar on a stupid turnover on defense

we're lacking a finisher, Gio is just too small and he's getting pushed off the ball easily.

Cerci is playing the same way he always does, all speed and no skill. He keeps accelerating past defenders and then crossing into the woodwork. That said, he is far from the worst on the pitch.

    Bad:

Destro has been completely invisible. This would be 1-0 or 2-0 with Pelle on the pitch.
Aquilani continues to be useless. Parolo too.
De Silvestri surrendered the ball in a dangerous area.

    OK:

Moretti has also not drawn attention to himself, but that is not necessarily a bad thing in a CB.
Antonelli has looked good defensively but has offered nothing going forward.
Sirigu has one one or two decent saves, nothing special.
Bertolacci has had one or two nice moves.
    Cerci, well, the usual.

    Good:

Giovinco has done enough to persuade me that he would make a decent trequartista in a 3-4-1-2.
Bonucci has broken up some dangerous Albanian counters.

another screw up on defense this time by Sirigu who stumbles on the ball. Lucky that Albania is sucking worse than italy right now. 0-0 still Cerci still the best on the field. Giovinco screws up a nice setup by Cerci

does cerci even get playing time at atletico ?

This Italy team looks like crap. Conte needs to do something before another embarrasing group stage exit at Euros.
