Van der sar is expendable. Foster will take his place soon enough. man utd have won the Champions league and World cup championship with this core of players. Proof that a team with a homegrown base can succeed . Thats all I need to say. thread/
Nice comment. I'd rather you take a look at the make up of your precious teams and then refute what I've said. The stereotypes are great too. Much appreciated.
6 out of 11... Hmm?? Unless my math has dropped significantly, that's over 50 percent. Yeah, I guess he was right..No English players represented whatsoever.
Okay....I think that's it. You guys can refuse to look at the make up of your clubs and keep leaning on the lineup of Man U last year. If that makes you feel better, fine. I'm just curious, why aren't you defending the makeup Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea...the other 75% of the "English dominance"?
ahhh so you have already disregarded manchesters homegrown core of talent I see! In consecutive posts!!! How can a team with 6 english starters have nothing to do with england ?? hmmmm Thats just nonsense .
I havent seen such a pedantic argument style since Bocafan/Rangers00. Holy f'ck!! I bet you live for these arguments. Someone check this guys IP addy.
You're right. Man U is very much an English team. Here's another 3 questions for you and if you don't answer it I think I will consider our conversation over. I'll use your phrasing just so there's no confusion: How can a team with 3 English starters (Chelsea) have anything to do with england ?? How can a team with 0 English starters (Arsenal) have anything to do with england ?? How can a team with 1 English starter (Liverpool) have anything to do with england ??
Another hilarious comment coming from somebody who has contributed absolutely nothing concrete to this discussion. So let's tally it up: -I'm retarded -I like Ice fishing and curling and you've said absolutely nothing except "look at the lineups in last years final"...... Nice contribution.
and they are the team that have had all the success pretty much. Wouldnt you agree? The elite squad.. Compared to "Italys best" ,Inter Milan. Ahh chelsea!!!!!! Their core is Terry ,lampard ,Joe Cole and Drogba Their key performers are homegrown aside from Drogba . Cole is their playmaker Lampard is their midfield anchor Terry the heart of the defence And they have some upcoming under 21's who will be involved very soon like mancienne. Could be better ,but still you cant ignore the key talent. walcott is now a starter. They have a good crop of young players coming up who will crack the team in time for any of Blatters 6-5 rulings. They are the weakest of the pack anyway. Gerrard and Carragher are their only domestic starters ,but arguably their core players along with torres and mascherano. The players who are first on the team sheet. Its not ideal !! but look at italy where the only team stocked with italians truely capable of winning is Milan. And in Spain with Barca and Madrid. Or germany with Bayern and Werder.
Sorry, I thought I should keep it simple for you.. 6 out of 11 english players to the champions, and 4 out of 11 to the runners up. That's a grand total of 10 out of 22, quite a bit of English representation for someone claiming that the English personnel have nothing to do with the present dominance. I can't be bothered anymore with this little banter. It reeks of sour grapes..
and one final pointer.. Aston Villa ,Everton ,Man city ,Tottenham ,etc will be teams looking to crack that top 4 dominance. They all have domestic bases in their teams.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aston_Villa_F.C.#Current_squad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everton_F.C.#Current_squad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_City_F.C.#Current_squad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C.#Current_squad These teams need to step up!!!
Yes...last year was a good showing for those teams and England was well represented. Unfortunately it's not the same this year and won't be for the future. Also, it's not sour grapes because the team I support in Italy could not even qualify for Champions last year and were recently booted from the UEFA cup so that's where all my sour grapes go these days. I just don't like it when people take jabs at Italian football and talk about "English Dominance". Man U dominance....definitely....English dominance...hardly. That's all.
Also...you still haven't made any mention of Liverpool and Arsenal.... oh...and the managers of each of your teams oh...and the owners of each of those teams.... But don't worry. I got it.... IN LAST YEARS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ENGLAND WAS VERY WELL REPRESENTED WITH NO LESS THAN 10 ENGLISHMEN TAKING THE FIELD. This year has already been a different story and will continue to be but don't worry. You're still the best.
So Inter can't win Champions League with all Foreigns on there team either, whats your point? yet Milan won theres with 7 Italians starting.
I think Aston Villa has and to see Aston Villa in Champions League next season is more of a victory English Football then seeing Arsenal in CL.
He may be Italian but he is OUR italian mkay funboy! and I think you will find Capello's has english ancestors
I'm just glad the ManU did make it because I can stand Jose. Would be fun to see ManU going against Munich.
