Heat check of where BSMX rates his career at this point.

    Is Carlos Vela a bust?

None of this is indicative of how I feel.

    I'm the conduit.

    Bsmx decides.

It’s the FMFs fault. We would’ve been a much more solid team in 2014 if they would’ve done their job and vela would’ve probably been at a bigger club after that World Cup.

Definitely not a bust. 2014 Vela would have taken us to the 5th game at the world cup

BSMX'rs like to cling on to that season Vela was voted top player or one of the top players in La Liga to say hes had a successful career, which he did but he was no world class player, he lacked world class player mentality and ambition, he was an above average player with an above average successful career he became a club icon just as Omar bravo is a Chivas club icon, there is a reason no other big club beside Arsenal was willing to sign him, he just didn't have it in him to be at half the level Hugo was.

Goal post moved. No one is arguing if he was world class. The simple question is he a bust or a success.
I personally consider him a success.

I like Vela. He had a decent career and could have been a world class player but lack ambition and retired early by going to MLS. Bust

    Vela is 100% verified bust.

Success is measured in silverware. Ironically, the most success he's had has been on the country he turned his back on. U17 WC, '09 & '15 Gold Cup. But let's be honest here, those GC are more participation trophies than anything. Miguel Sabah was the golden boot winner in the 2009 edition. Let that sink in. Guardado was our best player in the 2015 edition.

Now as I mentioned earlier, he turned his back on the national team for a minute. He chose not to win an olympic gold in 2012 and not help us out in the 2014 WC where we desperately could have used his services. Look, I get it. He had some beef with the FMF that he didn't squash. He let it build up and snowball into a bigger issue than it needed to be. At the end of the day it was HIS choice not to suit up for us, for whatever f*cking reason. It doesn't matter. But it proves my point. His career has been a bust. What exactly has he accomplished?

Vela put up more numbers than Griezmann at Real Sociedad in both app and goals. The difference? Vela decided to go the MLS. The mentality of a certified buster.

Vela was mexicos best player for a couple seasons, was even nominated up there with Messi and Ronaldo, real sociedad was his team, idk how he can be considered a bust. This man doesn’t even care about soccer and was still our best player imagine if did. If he was a bust y’all wouldn’t have cared if he played 2014 or not

While we're living in this fantasy world Mexico would be world champs if we had 11 players with Chicharito's mindset and work ethic.

Seriously though enough with the mamadas. Defending your argument with would have and ifs... this ain't the make-a-wish program. GIVE ME COLD HARD FACTS or get out.

You can start by defining what you consider "success" and include Vela's accomplishments to plead your case...

I say bust. He had the capacity and talent to go to a big team but lacked ambition and the mentality to achieve bigger things. He had one great season with Real Sociedad and that is about it. He could have done more but chose not to. For that reason he is a bust. His goal against Lyon still gives me the chills.

If the best we've produced since Hugo is a bust to you, the rest of our history must be absolute shit.

    Makes me sad.

Best forward since Hugo is Javier Hernandez.

Sure the most talented was Vela. But hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t want to work hard.
